Transilvanian hunger cold, soul Your hands are cruel... to haunt, to haunt The mountains are cold... soul, cold Careful pale, forever at night Take me can't you feel the call Embrace me eternally in your daylight slumber To be draped by the shadow of your morbid palace Ohh, hate living... The only heat is warm blood So pure... So cold Transilvanian hunger Hail to the true, intense vampires A story made for divine fulfillment To be the one's breathing a wind of sorrow Sorrow and fright the dearest katharsis Beautiful evil self to be the morbid count A part of a pact that is delightfully immortal Feel the call freeze you with the uppermost desire Transilvanian hunger, my mountain is cold So pure... I swear, this is one of the best mixes i've ever heard in my entire life. Yes it's very low quality, but the guitars and the bass can be heard at a VERY EQUAL level without the one being too loud from the other and even though the drums can't be heard that much, their percussional fundamentals are still audible which is just fine and the vocals are also fine. Hands down, one of the best black metal mixes ever, it's definitely up there with Burzum's Filosofem

Now, being a little older and wiser, I can honestly say that this is some of the greatest music I've ever heard. the most unfathomable, perfect song for a dark wintery walk in solitude, its whole atmospheric is too palpable, you can feel and hear the coldness, the nearby mountains

Listening to it again, after some time, made me understand its importance; it's truly a hymn,an anthem of Norwegian BlackMetal....and perhaps of all BlackMetal--and I think I got it.👹Today marks 30 years since the release. Great respect, still kicks ass now.

Haha big time man. I was 9 when I started listening to this stuff, tried to run my first gig when I was 12, since there were no BM bands in my town, so I booked a bunch from around the country having no idea I'd even have to pay them or anything lol. Played a cover of this song myself as my only track that night at the fresh age of 12. Lost so much money but earned so much experience from that gig haha.

While Punk Rock was a rebellion against society through music, Black Metal is a rebellion against the musical norms themselves. Clean sung vocals, crisp studio quality sounds, and the same tired old lyrics about love found/lost were all things that Black Metal was rebelling against. To many music lovers (myself included) this was a breath of fresh air for the music industry, even if it's underground. If you can't appreciate this style of music, that's fine. No one is forcing you to listen. -4TW

When I was 15 years old, I talked about metal in front of my school class during our music lessons. I explained different sub genres of metal and played examples for each of them. This was my example for black metal. For some reason one of the boys in my class started crying.

This song is perfect in every form. It creates, in my thought, the almost epitome of black metal's musical defenition. Yeah, black metal is an actually quite versatile genre, but every time the term "black metal" comes to mind...this is the first song to come to mind along with it. Amazing stuff. Hail Darkthrone. Hail black metal.
