This makes total sense, as you said it is something you intuit as an experienced player, but probably dont know the mechanics behind. I have a suspicion that the ai director can tell when you are obstructing your slots like this, and it intentionally spawns area denial specials and stuff like trappers to force players out of them. I dont know where to look for proof of this beyond anecdotal evidence, but it would make sense.

This 5 and a half minute video is peak Darktide content as far as I'm concerned. I always wondered why hordes didn't just rush you in a giant amorphous blob and this pretty much explained how and why very concisely. This shit is forbidden technology, yet is somehow also blindingly obvious once you actually lay it out like this. Good shit.

Devs should consider making it harder for enemies to disable coherency regen, maybe enemies should have to have at least half the slots occupied before coherency regen gets disabled, would make the mechanic matter a bit more and encourage players to not get surrounded, not that they need encouragement for that anyway. Alternatively instead of coherency regen being disabled due to enemies being in slots, make each enemy in a slot slow toughness regen down instead of disabling it entirely. Anyway, would be nice if the coherency regen mechanic was looked at by the devs and made more relevant, it basically doesn't matter in combat.

Yea I remember seeing a video about the slot system in vermintide 2 a while back. Basically having 3 walls or in a corner around you allows you to dump some aggro. I use it a lot in vt2 when there is a huge group of elites on me, you dump a lot of a elite aggro and make them go after teammates who are more prepared to fight them

Mic volume was good imo. Also, somewhat new player here, I've noticed that way the AI works over my first 30 or so hours on 40K. Had no idea that the same system was in VT2. Another thing, great job of showing the slot system. I though it was more of a "if they can fit they'll fit" type deal, not a fixed number system. Little things like these really make a difference. Also subbed now to. Keep up the "straight to the fucking point" vids.

man this is the sorta stuff I like. Going *really* into the weeds about mechanics. I'm a little annoyed with other darktide creators just sticking with theory and vibes and not going into *why* the meta is the way the meta is. There were a few videos recently about what the "best" curios are, and I expected them to go into the math and showcase effective total health and factoring in the pros and cons, but nah, not a single spreadsheet and not a single diagram. Just "yeah so toughness is the best so just stack toughness". But whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is toughness the best, when on classes like Ogryn stacking health can result in over 200 more effective health than stacking toughness, even when factoring in toughness damage resistance. Looking forward to more videos like this one!

BTW it is good system. It make fights more "cinema realistic". the system restrains AI movements so that the battle does not turn into garbage, as it happens for example in mount blade. this is literally why you will not be able to feel yourself as the main character there, however there is an emphasis on the battle of AI with AI in the battle formation.

@@MegaWizardguy Honestly despite what Tanner says I still like to run toughness regen on some Ogryn builds. It just helps get back to 100% toughness behind cover quickly with the amount of replenishment Ogryn gets from the tree and it does feel like it reduces the delay to me. For the most part I have switched to toughness from braced weapon for the stubber and kickback (with surgical) though. I bet it's good for Ripper too but I run that in a more melee focused build with cleaver just for can opener mostly and suppressing gunners.

Do the coherency buffs still apply regardless such as cooldown reduction or toughness damage reduction auras? Also unrelated but something I thought about recently, psykers stamina delay is 0.5 seconds and enables you if you have some stam regen and sprint eff to generate stamina when repeatedly sliding, that being said veteran can reduce their stam delay to 0.5 seconds with the two nodes from the talent tree. Having tested it myself it seems repeatedly sliding with stamina is still faster than sprinting with no stamina and good for when you're at the end of your bar. Do you feel this is something worth building into or rarely gets use? With Psyker I feel it's more worth because of the lower stamina pool even with +3.
