YES! This is basically my favorite Vet loadout right now and it's all thanks to your original Marksman Focus video explaining how it works so I wasn't as afraid of trying it out in builds. I've been using Deadshot with the stamina on headshot though but I might just try out this version to see how I like it, it's just that I just love the freedom of never having to worry about ammo for me or my teammates.

using a fullauto gun and sawing left and right at approximately head heaight has almost always technically been the fastest way of harvesting headshots in zombie games. only games with slower combat mechanics like dying light or perhaps dead island shook the trend

Great video Tanner. I've always wanted to like Marksman's Focus but Improved Focus Target and Weapon Specialist just feel so much stronger. I've experimented with all three keystones on Aurics since I've loved the recon lasgun since the beginning, and in all my tests both other keystones just feel more effective for Auric play. I wish the game's abilities and weapons were more balanced because I would love Marksman's Focus to feel as strong as the other two, but hey at least it's better now than it was!

That keystone gives a similar amount of DMG as the Psykers Scrier’s Gaze; You can also bring VoC for that +50 temp Health/Toughness and the +10% DMG for everyone on activation. It is truly slept on. Only reason I prefer Psyker’s Scrier’s Gaze is because of the amount of movement speed you can stack as Psyker (+40%). Two of my favourite builds right there.

Marksman's Focus would be 10x better if it lets you move on a melee headshot. I just got the max stacks and crouched(as long as you are crouched you can move in any other way) with crutchsword to get the penance done in melee(it works). Also, infernus + dumdum + unyielding on recon las is a way better generalist option(onslaught + 12 stacks of infernus means you can basically stop shooting when you get 12 stacks on most targets and make them burn to death, including bulwarks - shoot the foot from front). Marksman's focus stacks do not scale with infernus DOT(which is pretty big on unyielding targets, great on crushers too since you have onslaught) but you don't need any keystone to do it anyway; and iirc enemies dying to burn stacks don't give you marksman's focus. I especially don't like marksman's focus because Beast of Nurgle targeting you generally won't let you shoot its weakspot to keep marksman's focus going. Yeah, vet's keystones need rework. They're way too situational and doing penances for them makes game far, far less fun. Hence I just don't use keystones now(go deep right before keystones in all 3 branches at the lower end for the best non-conditional dps - you can get BringItDown in the middle instead; 414 dmg per tick from Infernus is no joke, and it gets applied almost instantly). On infernus/dumdum recon lasgun, it's ~2.3k dps on 15 marksman's focus stack to kill BoN on head area shots frontally; 2.5k if you switch to BringItDown.

I like this keystone for agri infantry auto because it lets you 1 tap gunners and play like you're using an AK47 with the right setup. It's sometimes annoying to stack everything you need like exe stance with dmg boosts from ability modifiers, and otherwise hits like a wet noodle with bodyshots (gta5 vibes), but it's really satisfying to tap heads with an infantry auto. Also with just 10% rending it makes headshotting maulers do more damage than chest shots even with 25% flak damage.

In my opinion even if you can make this keystone work, the fact that it's so different to what it's intending and the fact that the intended playstyle is so atrocious means it should be completely scrapped and they need to replace it with an entirely new idea. Anything that ever even suggests standing still to gain a benefit does not belong in Darktide and it's astounding this was ever OK'd by anyone who has played for more than 2 hours.

On the topic of horde clear, the Mk XIV recon (the slow-firing one) has some really solid piercing capability. It can hit three poxwalkers in line without the need to one-shot them, and can even pierce dreg bruisers and small gunners. Its definitely not as preferable to the 20 rps lasgun in single-target situations due to the lack of synergy with blessings, but i honestly think its one of the best guns in the game for horde clear

I have to give a shoutout to your old Marksmans Focus META build. Currently, the Vraks 5 (columnus 5) does noticably more damage to armored enemies than the recon lasgun. I still prefer it to the recon lasgun.

Dman I was hoping you'd showcase the Agripnaa braced auto gun with Marksmans focus. I found it sloces and dices hordes. The bullets cleave right through so you're killing 2-3 at a time.

I feel like with all the rebalancing and renaming you could try and make a video about all the weapons (range/melee) similarly to how you did the recent 2h tierlist, per class. Because people who started playing recently (me) would hear shit like Columnus or various MKs of weapons only to find out it's been renamed, rebalanced, etc. Then there's "people" who put weapons below where they should be because weapons for other classes are "better", or forget about stuff like parry being goated, etc. I've legit seen someone claim the thunder hammer is better then the latrine shovel when the former isn't even on ogryns at all.

i usually run this keystone with exec stance and infantry lasgun, feel like it allows me to one shot virtually anything except armored targets when i'm at full stacks, and with the easy headshots of lasgun it's easy to keepup the stacks

I really hope they rework the abilities at some point for veteran tbh. I cant stand it in games when one option is just so damn good that it becomes auto pick and feels like self gimping to not use it, plus team mates hate it. Voice of Command is just too damn good I hope it gets nerfed a little bit while ex stance and infiltrate get raised up to compensate. I love executioner stance but my god it just doesnt give enough and feels horrible not having that constant "heres your entire, already large, toughness bar back and then some, oh and staggers everything too, oh and gives gold toughness to your team mates as well! IMO they could stand to tone down VoC a bit and for the love of god replace the option nodes for executioner stance with something else. The ones that outline range enemies and ogryns should be baseline or at the very least combined into one and replaced with something else. And making ex stance instantly reload your weapon like the Ogryns ability wouldnt be a bad idea either. Ive no idea what they could do with infiltrate to make it worthwhile.

I got all killshot related penances in like first 70 hours. I didn't even aim for those, only that one that requires >90% accuracy with no ammo left, that one i got remaking my build to not get extra ammo and takind double barrel shotgun.

Yup. it is sometimes work, but still weak(( Just look at overbuffed zealot - critical hit passive, get stacks by crit HiT, and no request only 1 weapon use for stacking. ( you can use melee or range weapon for this. ) And look at this vet key stone - you get passive with stacks, but it is can be efficient only with some + only Range weapon On class who priority is range weapon and sometimes balancing on middle of range or melee. And + you call easy to lose your stacks just bc game situations is can't be this good for little walk and shoot. Bc enemy bombers and ogrins just don't give you this freedom in battlefield.

It really annoys me that the recon las gun is ammo efficient to the point that it can be used to shoot trash enemies. I see it teach newer players bad habits constantly. I don't fault the players, but I really dislike the design.

But some weapons needs to be against trash, just bc melee today - is main anti armor weapon in big % game situations. Even bolter can't be better against duel sword DPS. U can kill pack of armored ogrins buy 10 +/- sec, but with bolter or plasma you cant + it is put you is vulnerable position. + game don't have heavy armored range enemys for compensate it.

@@Александр911-х6л There are dedicated horde clear ranged weapons in the game already. The flamethrower and purge staff make sacrifices to be good at clearing hordes - most notably, they have limited range. That is well designed, because you give up something to have great horde clear. The recon las gun does not give anything up due to its ammo efficiency and zero recoil. It's effective at horde clear and elite damage. It does not require the player to make choices or think through a build. It is poorly designed. There's a reason why your primary weapon in-game is a melee weapon. The combat is designed around melee. Ranged combat is important too, but a core mechanic of the game is being able to fight in melee. If a gun removes melee fighting entirely, then it is not well designed and conflicts with a core game design feature.
