Twinned blast doesn't need to be "buffed to 50%". It needs an "Every X minutes your next grenade throw throws a double" or "every second grenade thrown is a double" rework, either one of those. It shouldn't be "chance"-based at all. It will be infuriating to get non-procs every time even if the node would have a 75% chance. Regarding the "8m" nodes: they should rework them to "if there are no ELITES OR SPECS in 8m range...". That way the vet will: - keep the buff despite occasionally having some rank and file dreg in vicinity; - be more motivated to focus on elites and specs for the team; - have an opportunity to dish out extra damage burst to bosses with Kraks if the "+20% ranged damage" bonus is also reworked to just "+20% damage bonus", increasing Krak's utility somewhat. And Leave No One Behind could probably be a legitimate pick if it would provide the Vet a golden toughness overshield while either moving towards a downed ally or during the revive process of a downed ally. There might also be a funny option of adding a toned down variant of Ogryn's charge effect so that if the Vet moves towards a downed teammate, he staggers rank and file (non-specs, non-elites) out of his way (not dropping them on the ground as Ogryn does, but just staggering them so that the way is cleared). Also, Tunnel Vision is "+5% Toughness Replenishment". Emphasis on "Replenishment", not "Replenish". It increases your OTHER "Replenish" keyword effects by +5% per stack of MF. So, +50% (or +75% if we're at 15/15 instead) for the effect of ExTakedown, Confirmed Kill, Out for Blood, Field Improvisation Medkit T.R. effect component. Maybe even Born Leader, but this remains unconfirmed.

@@TannerLindberg I cannot overemphasize how much I wish ObeseWhales pay more attention to their talent trees. I mean, it doesn't take a 314IQ genius to polish them out. There are awesome nodes and then there are outright terrible nodes. There are meta pick node placement paths and then there are atrociously garbage placement paths. With just three base "specs" for each of just four classes it shouldn't take much effort to balance things out... but here we are. I also had to edit my note from before to add the statement regarding Tunnel Vision. It was somewhat confusing for me too until I realized that it was all about the -keyword-. P.S. Ohoho. I am not the only one suffering from "out of memory" crashes then? This knowledge is... oddly comforting. Sharks, pls. Seriously. Its 2024. The hell do you mean "out of memory"? Is 64GB RAM not enough?

We don't really need to invent new components or even reinvent existing ones. Everything this game needs is already in the game. The Kraks, even in their current state, CAN potentially serve a purpose. But as was stated on many occasions, they cannot possibly have less charges than Shreddies. If anything, they need to have one MORE charge than Shreddies. After all, we already have a class/build combo that melts down AD bosses in about ten seconds, and that is Gunlugger. We also have a Oneshot Roflmao Zealot with Stealth+Powermaul. Last but not least we have a gunpsyker with ridiculous damage output during the Gaze. Why not just let the Vet be something similar if he choses to build for boss damage, sacrificing those juicy Shreddies for that very purpose? Likewise, the point of preposterous "+5% damage aura". It is a joke. It needs to have "+10%" at LEAST to be a viable alternative to the Scavenger. So does Psyker's Kinetic Presence. It's also a joke. It needs to be modified to "+15% vs Elites" minimum. And I would actually suggest that Sharks swap the two auras between the Psyker and the Vet, dropping the "+10% all damage" aura into Psyker's left tree while depositing "+15% damage vs Elites" aura into Vet's middle tree. That way Vet will once again be encouraged to ruin priority targets' day with his toolkit, while the Psyker will get a decent static damage up bonus for everyone including himself. Maybe the Brain Burst will actually start killing Mutants for bloody once, because right now it is as worthless as a christian prayer.

I'll be honest, coming into/back into Darktide, videos like this that break down the "public opinion" and current "research" are fucking indispensable, especially when so much of the information in the game is vague at best, straight up misleading at worst. 1:35:15... It doesn't say "replenish 5% toughness per stack.", but "+5% toughness replenishment per stack", i.e. it boosts everything that replenish toughness other then coherence regeneration. Look at your example yourself: You have a 87 toughness. You kill an elite, and regain it to 118, restoring 31 toughness with confirmed kill. You have maximum of 206 toughness. Confirmed kill regains 10% of your max toughness, meaning that it should regain 20,6 per kill, but with 50% buff from Tunnel Vision, it regains 31 instead. 1:35:56 and if you watch frame by frame here, as I said, you had 43 toughness, and regained it to 63, restoring 20 in a process. It works.

There are so many builds I want to do that I'm like "Damn, I wish I had five or ten more levels to do this." Though I switched to krak grenades just to knock out the penance and I really felt not having the horde clear. Like, I felt naked not being able to toss a grenade to knock over a horde and basically having to rely on my actual weapons to deal with shit. Sure, I run the devil's claw or heavy sword now but sheesh.

Suppression's main effect isn't actually your aim bouncing around, what it does is that it causes a massive increase in cone of fire for a second. If you aim for the head at range, there's a good chance you'll miss even if you're aiming dead on. The reason it's not that impactful when fighting against shooters, is because you're most likely still going to land some hits in your wild spray which ends up causing stagger and suppression, which then removes your suppression. However, what it also helps with is melee suppression. Just like removing coherency regen, an enemy attacking you in melee triggers suppression so your shots will start going everywhere. It's obviously not so impactful with full auto weapons, but with single shot weapons other than revolver which has GIGANTIC bullets, it'll make clicking heads practically impossible, or at best luck based. So be aware of this in case Infantry Lasguns eventually become a meta pick. Also as a bonus piece of info, Executioner's Stance and Scrier's Gaze also provide suppression immunity. It's proper fun to combine with a lasgun or laspistol with Ghost, because you get to walk straight into a massive horde of shooters and gunners, executing them one by one.

Confirmed Kill, Out for Blood, Iron Will, and Shout (golden toughness) will make it so that if all that you're capable of is standing in-front of a mixed horde (ragers, shotgunners, etc) and holding left click with either plasma gun or any weapon that has Fire Frenzy, you aren't going to take health damage until flamers or poxbursters are involved.

You shouldn't do it. It's a horrible habit. You're wasting way too much ammo to do it all the time. But the fact that it's possible and that I can regularly pull it off on certain Maelstroms is too funny. Fire Frenzy means you're doing so much damage you begin to mow down the entire waves of mutants before they even reach you. It's like an Al Yankovic skit. But REALLY good on the train mission. Graia braced autogun or recon las is my favorite for holding or pushing the corridor singlehandedly. You have so much ammo it offsets the fact you're wasting it, and the mission is short anyways.

My biggest gripe on krak grenades is vets may sometimes apply focus target to the nearest crusher or bulwark, then i go attack it or basically kill it, then they throw a krak at the one they focus target. It blows my mind.

I see Determined as a very niche talent for the reasons that you said. Normal suppression isn't that bad. If you are using a high capacity or high fire rate weapon, then you just keep firing and kill the target anyway, even if suppression causes you to miss a headshot. Determined is useful for things like revolver or bolt pistol/precision bolter builds that rely on consistent headshots at medium to long range. In that scenario, the iron sight jiggle can cause you to miss a headshot. You have limited magazine capacity and the build is optimized for weakspot hits, so missed headshots matter. Outside of that niche, Determined gives limited to minimal benefit. P.S.: I am pretty sure that hipfire weapons (plasma gun, braced autoguns, etc.) can actually be surpressed, but the negative impact is minimal because of their larger magazines. You just keep shooting and get the kill anyways.

About "Close and kill": 5% movement speed buff was highly relevant in Vermintide. It was often a difference of ether outrunning the hoard or being forced to fight them. I guess in DT, with maps being much more cramped, and more enemies being able to shoot at you, this isn't as important.

I wouldn't really say so. 5% movement speed is nothing on its own, I literally can't even notice a move speed buff below 10% unless I'm actively comparing against someone without that buff.

It's valuable in VT because weapons don't affect movement speed (other than movetech) and there aren't many sources of +movement. Plus no sprint. So any source of +movement is very noticeable.

Every time I take either of the speed operative modifiers for vet I feel like that old ass clip of keemstar saying “I’m fast as fuck boiii”. Taking both the aura and the node + weapon specialist vet makes playing infiltrate vet feel like you’re a damn commando. You can just be anywhere you want to be. You can bring the power sword and the bolter and you’re still zipping around everywhere.

| honestly feel smoke grenades can be turned into a good crowd-control option like this: - Have it still block los for ranged enemies - Make it incense smoke (bad for chaos stuff) and color it appropriately - Reduce its thickness while inside, so you can actually see out - Make it deal low-to-mid damage, just enough so it can kill a trash mob by itself over its duration - Make it so any enemy (or maybe just trash) that enters it gets stunlocked while the smoke is active. This way, its a longer-lasting (15 sec base, 30sec with grenade tinkerer) almost-wall for trash that allows you to focus on the real threat and maybe even get some use out of those no-enemies-within-8-meters talents.

Putting my old comment on here before watching and shortening it: Krak also falls behind frag because typically you can kite big guys, since theyre slow af. The chaff can block a dodge making you tank an overhead, or do damage while you're focusing on the admittedly bigger threat. With frags you have weaker big boys while also deleting the chaff that could pose a threat by simply not allowing you to dodge an attack. Also edit about this vid, you're kinda selling me on focus target. I never liked it on principle because it just feels... boring, but the idea of marking a mf and turning them into a toughness restore... That kinda sounds need. Prefer weapon specialist still but that makes the node not completely dead to me now.

around the 1:13:10 mark, even as a player who uses a controller on Pc (because I am a weirdo too used to console gaming to make the control swap), the ONLY time I've ever noticed suppression affect me in any way was when trying to hit a gunner further away with the speedloading revolver in braced stance. My reticle swayed far to the left, and that single moment was the only time I even realized the mechanic existed for players. As an unrelated aside, the auto-aim changes they made actually makes playing with a controller fairly comfortable. I can generally land shots even on further targets with my boltgun due to the under the hood adjustments to the system. The deadshot node seemed useful on my boltgun and bolt pistol, but I'm just speaking as a casual who never dives into higher difficulties. Even from that view, though, the stamina drained seemed heavy and once in a while messes with me trying to swap to melee and shove (which I can't since no stamina) that second transition got me laughing hard

Worth mentioning that because of how percentage rounding works, Always Prepared is crazy good for low magazine weapons. Its great for plasma gun as well because you can always get a shot when you need it without that lengthy reload but especially for stuff like the revolver or double barrel you literally just need 1 kill melee kill then swap to ranged and you have a shot loaded. You can even get a melee kill, swap the swap back without firing instantly, get another melee kill, rinse repeat to refill entire magazine. With double barrel its crazy fun just double blast, get a melee kill swap, swap back melee kill, then swap and boom another double blast

Also also in my experience redirect fire actually does work “additively”, last I messed with it and tested for it. You can do a bunch of 1-stack tags and get to the max amount of bonus damage stacks just handing out.

Do you know the kuli guides on steam? I learned about him through telopots' cleave video. Apparently he analyzed the darktide code to find out what blessings and skills actually do. Doesnt mean you shouldnt verify his claims, but I doubt that he is just talking nonsense. Also in a recent video (the one with jeficus?) you said you dont care about impact and nobody knows what it does anyway. I dont know to what extent you were joking but there is this j_sat video where he explains stagger, and impact is part of one of the formulas. The video is old, the formula may be outdated, but it might still help in understanding the role of impact.

I still make use of Deadshot, specifically with the single-shot Vigilant Autogun (previously the Vraks mk XII) and the Boltgun. Deadshot + Duck & Dive + Target Down! = endless stamina regen for a constant 25% crit chance boost when one-shotting specials and elites (which is what my build is supposed to be doing anyway), and since I also don't take Determined the sway reduction helps in those rare cases where I have to land headshots against a wall of gunners. I have to give up Demolition Team with this build, but I haven't noticed much of a drawback as I nearly always have at least 1 shredder available when I need it.

The one thing I *really* love about Infiltrate is that it's a really good tool to give yourself complete and total clearance to engage a priority target. Staring down three snipers? No worry - go into stealth, sprint off, kill them, and then go back into stealth and rejoin your team. Yes, the shout performs a similar role, but if you're about to get shot by a sniper or are actively taking fire from a group of Gunners outside that stagger range and need an immediate "I need EVERYONE to stop attacking me right now" tool, Infiltrate is super fun. Also good for getting behind Beasts of Nurgle or Bulwarks and taking them down that way. Been running it a lot, and while I don't think it's as good as Voice of Command, I think it's pretty damn good. Wish the cooldown was shorter, though.

This type of mechanical breakdown is great, but can you make a sorta play-by-play video showing the synthesis of all this theory-crafting? It’s one thing to know how everything works in theory, it is a whole different beast to apply them in practice when you’re in the thick of it trying to survive. I can pretty regularly complete damnation matches with Ogryn and Zealot but I tend to struggle with Vet and Psyker, primarily due to the low health pool. I can sorta mitigate this by taking an HP curio but then I lose a stamina or toughness curio slot and i think the losses far outweigh the gains.

Can you please dona deep dive into braced autoguns? They are my fav veteran weapon. For example I feel like Longshot is necessary when I eun the agripnaa because the spread of the weapon means I need to maximize headshot damage on long range shots. I need to make sure I kill that gunner with 2 hits bc 2 hits requires 4-5 bullets at 25 meters.

With Suppression - the only weapon I actually notice this on that I've tried is the revolver, and mainly on Zealot (does Veteran have some kind of in-built resistance to it?). I'm not great at this game, but I have sometimes found it genuinely impossible to ADS at a gunner shooting me with the revolver because it keeps moving away from where the gunner is and doesn't want to point there.

About suppression immunity. I agree that meta guns don't really need it. However I think some off-meta weapons that fire slowly and headshot oriented might benefit from it. For example, the only place where I pick this talent is bolt pistol build. This gun has a shitty recoil and doesn't forgive you bodyshots. Adding random sway won't help and it doesn't have a fire rate to suppress like columnus (now vraks) or recon do. I still don't regret picking it specifically for this build. I guess other precision guns like helbore and infantry lasgun could also benefit from it but I run exe stance with them, so can't really tell

I want to stick up / argue for infiltrate just a little bit - the speed boost enables a lot of sneaky moves as well as a way to just brute force your way past objective mini games by turning off the very thought of an enemy hitting you. That’s a little selfish, sure, but when the entire event is done WAY faster and nobody is getting knocked of of the ability, it nets out to a positive for the team. You *can* in my experience also drop Overwatch if you’re snagging specialist kills a lot and have the full CDR from your relics. The 30% damage boost also lets you ignore the other two “damage boost on ability use” talent nodes in favor of saving points to use on other stuff. You can build a very mobile multi-role vet with infiltrate that’s ALSO a ton of fun and imo more interesting than shout, even if shout is probably just flat out better. Edit: Plus the stealth helps with long reload times, gives you toughness back in a pinch, and I’ve even used it as a “parry” to make random barrels or even crusher overheads from hurting quite so bad.

Regarding suppression - it seems to vary MASSIVELY depending on the server. Some games it's a complete none issue but in others the second some one pings a bullet my way my crosshair goes nuts and it's impossible to shoot straight.

seems like close and kill would work better if it worked like a sprint efficiency/stamina curio. idk I don't have a vet in my roster despite 800 hours edit : you mention focus target should be a grenade keystone, while I think fatshark wants to keep accessibility to grenade talents high for whatever build the you want on the vet, you could make focus target the fire team aura at reduced output. something like marked enemies take 10-15% more damage.

Another note, you mught be sleeping on Focus Target 8 stacks. It might be a UI bug or something, but once you use the 8 stacks, get the kill, and tag the next enemy before the 8 stack buff goes away, it just refreshes. Even if you had 1 or 2 stacks the second time, as long as you kill the enemy before your 8 stack damage buff goes away, it simply gets refreshed. If this works, you can have permanent 20% damage boost to your team, especially on specials spawn. I didn't have time to test, will do when I get home from work today, but I that's what I remember from playing a couple of days ago.

Well that sounds like a big if true, so can't rely on it. The stack counter is meant to reset to zero after every tag, taken 10 seconds to reach 5 stacks or 16 seconds to reach 8 Stacks.

Krak's are great for sub 30 geared players when you don't have the skills, and weapons to deal with crushers etc. Noob friendly, but eventually you out grow them. They also teach you how to throw and be precise. Like many skills and gear, once you get to 30 and get reasonably good gear, you out grow it.

i mostly use smoke for hacking/defending events and highly intense horde scenarios with specials spawning in. it renders dogs, flamers, trappers (and snipers?) useless, along with any shotgunners and all the ranged units. i think it shines the most when boss and wave spawns at the same time. smoke is like a pseudo bubble shield, it's a pause to everything happening outside melee range. that said i have 1 smoke build, killing everything is still the preferred method but pubs are just pubs

How to improve the smoke grenades: 1) Make the smoke transparent 2) Any ranged enemies affected by the smoke just leave to get some smokes, may or may not return later

I just wanna point out something that I dont believe you've pointed out yet that I also think make the shredders great in just about every situation: If I am correct and it should still be the case, if thrown at a bosses feet you can just stun them. Not great in every situation, but a useful tool when you really need that room to breath.

Tbh, I don't mind that much that infiltrate diverts more enemies on my ass as long the horde will be dying faster. However, whenever I see an infiltrate vet, that person is always bottom dps. Of course there's a pretty small amount of people running this ult to build a reliable sample size. Still, all invis vets I've met were just ensuring that in the game there are 3 players, not 4

It really surprise me to hear you rank combat shotgun among the top ranged weapons. Did you mean to say the double-barreled shotgun? If not, I'd be very interested in a video of you going over the combat shotguns. They always feel very underwhelming whenever I try to use them.

Ok I learned something, apparently I misread Out for Blood and thought it was just 5% for melee kills...nope I was wrong and never bothered to double check. Holy cow I thought ogryn had some of the most broken, top of the tree, toughness regen talents since the class update but I think I was sleeping on vet the entire time.

The only reasonable and selfless way of stealth use that I found while doing penance turned out to be the exact same as with smoke grenades. You see a teammate knocked/in a pickle, you run towards them, F, left click horde for insta suppression AoE then you revive and gtfo together, that's it. So with smoke grenades+stealth you essentially get melee range insta suppression but at this point why not just kill things, and as you like to say in previous videos, why build to lose? Anyway I did it for penance so it wasnt that bad but realistically there's no reason to handicap yourself like that.

The suppression, I thought, doesnt just screw up the visuals of aiming, i could have sworn is also affects bullet spread. But that could also just be me misunderstanding whats happening in the chaotic situations where im actually suppressed.

I play with a 90 something FOV and suppression fucks me up bad. He's playing with a way higher FOV so it doesn't really affect him much.

You should always play tide games with the maximum possible fov darktide removed the fish eye effect by effectively capping the max to right before it starts

Yeah, smokes are in a pretty bad place right now. If I were to rework them, I’d make them also reduce the damage of any ranged attacks going through them, or maybe slow enemies that pass through the smoke, so that they have actual utility.

One thought I had to make Smokes not suck: what if they outlined all significant targets within the AoE? It's hilariously bad because it negatively impacts the team in much the same way that it effects enemies, but making target acquisition next to impossible. What if it did the opposite for the team?
