This is a damn good survivability build. I personally run a melee damage focused slab shield build because that Heavy 1 is just. So. Good. It’s one of the most reliable attacks in the game with awesome breakpoints. I think this is the 1 case where confident strikes is actually worth using. You’re stacking so much toughness and DR that confident strikes 8% max is actually good. Especially without delight in destruction’s DR from bleeding baddies. Other than this specific tank build, I 100% think Skullcrusher/Brutal Momentum is the optimal combo for shield. I would honestly swap out the impact blessing for Skullcrusher so you can beat breakpoints on enemies you’ve pushed. You’ve gone so far into pushing and stamina and taunt that you’re going to be getting amazing value from the extra stagger damage.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I think a lot of people avoid the shield and don’t realise how good the heavy melee is. I’m excited for the itemisation overhaul as I currently don’t have any other high level blessings for the shield unlocked. Once I do, I’ll make sure to give the blessings you suggested a go! 😁

Don’t worry, It’s still there! They had a reshuffle, it’s now at the very top of the tree as the first right hand node. 😁

Does Loyal protector make you invulnerable for a short time like Iron Breaker's taunt in Vermintide 2?

I don’t believe so. However, the new push talent at the bottom of the middle tree is very powerful at clearing space, so combined with the shout of loyal protector you can stop the enemies attacking for some time! 😁

Think Crowd control gives attack speed, so that is superior to Damage, my take on it. Shield lifting feels less cumbersome tbh, and more splashing!

It does feel very cumbersome! (It also makes the heavy attack feel much weightier). I think I’ll revisit the shield once the itemisation update is out to try some new rolls, so I can knock everyone and everything around for my team. 😁

I used to run the build with that talent for the damage resistance but found I got better results in my games with the extra coherency buffs! It is a great perk though and I’d always recommend tailoring any build to what you prefer. 😁
