thank you so much for your performance(s). Your band will probably be the last live vids of this century documenting and playing this particular era of usa historical songs/events...hang in there as we are entering perilous times in this republic's changes. Your farewell is noted and appreciated for WBH.....even so, Come Lord Jesus. amen

Very tragic to hear about Bryant's passing, may he rest peacefully. I looked up his band, and their music has all of the aspects of your band's performances that make me enjoy it over others. Needless to say I think I will be adding some more videos to my music playlist!

It's so easy to label Civil-war ear, Confederate bands and even Union Bands as "racist" or "hateful" when in reality that is just not the truth. The Civil war had some great music that makes any patriot (to the C.S.A. Or the U.S.A.) smile and think about those who fought and died, even if what they believed was wrong, they died protecting their ideals. It's hard to think of much more American then that.

The populace is easily triggered and ignorant of history now. I bet you could write a piece on how pro slavery and white supremacist this song is and they’d believe it without even listening to it or reading lyrics. They have been conditioned to hate their heritage and ancestors so much. It’s sad.

The music reflects the emotions of humanity. It makes no difference which side of the war soldiers served, their hearts were human, and tears or joy, anger or rue sing to us now and we understand it. They were our brethren.

How is it easy to label it "racist"? Ignorant comment.
@michaelclark2458

@@0ak3nshi3ld88 not ignorant at all. There is language that is culturally offensive in music like this. If you sing songs like the original oh Susanna or Keemo Kimo you run the risk of being called a lot of names. I don’t agree with culture. I’m saying that it’s easy for the culture to just go right to the racist card rather than understand it’s deeper than just saying a word like digger or dark - key.

Love hearing these confederate songs, they sound very similar to our folk music here in Northern Ireland, you can definitely hear they kept in touch with their roots in this music.

Hi, Lads! Good to see another post but saddened to her about Bryant but such is the way for us all. The main thing is to be ready before the inevitable happens. Meanwhile, hope all are well and able to scratch out a tune or two and rally around the campfire once again. May the Lord richly bless yall and it'll warm up a bit before too long! God Bless Yall. Does anyone know anything about the banjo used in their songs? I want to find a banjo that can be used to play these songs but there isn't a lot of info readily available. I've found Carver Banjos but not sure if I should be looking at the Americana or the Minstrel banjo.
@2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand
@2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand Жыл бұрын
So, apparently you are planning on building your own. After a look at what he's offering, my choice would be the Minstrel. That said, do you already play banjo ? The minstrel kit is fretless. The 'Americana' appears to have frets, but they may be inlays (i.e., flush with the surface of the neck, but a different color wood). If you don't already know how to play the banjo, learning to play on a fretless could mean a much steeper learning curve. Both banjos are 'period' (if the Americana is truly an 1857 copy - I assume it is). I listened to both videos and my take was the minstrel had a better sound (there's LOTS more videos of the minstrel - so there's that -- obviously more folks chose that model). But then, each banjo was assembled by a different person... Just sayin'. Was me, I'd go 'MInstrel'. Opt for the beehive, if you do... I would. Anyway, I wish you best of luck. They are a lot of fun.
