The North Easts Friendly Exhibition took place over two days on the weekend of the 1st/2nd October. Held in the Head of Steam Darlington Railway Museum, it was great to see the various layouts embedded with the exhibits. Examples of most gauges, periods and regions of the UK, Europe and North America could be seen, supported by a number of traders. There were a total of 22 layouts on display, this video captures around half of these to give you an idea of what it was like to attend the Darlington Model Railway Exhibition.
Holbrook Creek - Phillip Ashlee
Sawlesdon Lane - Josh Swales
The Depots Rosedale East - Paul Gallon
Oakhurst Town - Geoff Stenner
Kepier Colliery - John Cook
Duncrievie Fueling Point - Adrian Walby
Kitson Castle and Peckett Pier - Chris Towers
Vaires - Dave Cabourn
Barham West Junction - Ian Flemming
Rivacre Road WRD - Ken Gibbons
Mill Lane - Colin Salmon
The above layouts will provide inspiration and ideas for the continued development of Thorp End.
Thorp End is a DCC N Gauge Model Railway running a mixture of Steam Locomotives and Diesel Trains, there are a number of 1980s Hornby Minitrix trains that have been converted from DC to DCC to operate on the layout along with some more modern Graham Farish rolling stock.
