I am so happy you have gotten Alpacas!!! I had 16. I was breeding them and had some beauty's. Unfortunately I got sick. Long story but I had to let most go. I kept the first girl I purchased and her girl. Cinderella and daughter Tatiana 😊 There fleece is second to the finest in the world. It will be fun to get the fleece done into yarn and you can wash the fleece and do other crafts. You could sell online in your own craft store. Most of all they were so good for me, being sick they were very therapeutic. It was nothing to have 8 girls all around me. I love their kisses! Good luck and enjoy

CONGRATS! I've had alpaca for years. They are very spiritual beings, you'll understand as you spend time with them, not to mention their hum is magical. As for advice, we don't breed any of our donkey poodles, male or female, before 2 years - they need to be physically and mentally mature, (let them enjoy being young and responsible free, it's only 2 years + you want to ensure you don't need to bottle feed, which opens a whole mess of issues). Stay onto of vaccinations, especially the monthly wormer, you folks, like us live in deer country, meningeal worn is deadly. My best advice is: have fun, spend lots of time with your donkey poodles and love them, they are truly amazing

Be especially wary of meningeal worms, they can get in the grass where deer have been. Dan at The Grass-fed Homestead lost his (borrowed) Llama to meningeal worm, and it happened fast from first sign to death.

I would be sure to watch for heat stress for them being down there since they are native to high elevation mountains. I have them in Idaho at 6800 ft and mine still dont even like the summers here so I shear them in early summer.
