The year was around 1980 or 81, we had 6 acres on a lake in Florida, we used to fish out of it once and awhile, well one day my dad was using a rubber tree frog lure and was hoping it from lily pad to lily pad, and on the last hop, a large mouth bass leaped out of the water and snatched the frog mid hop, it was a huge bass, it weighed in at 14 pounds!! He took pictures of that fish, he was so proud of it! Finally he cut it up and gutted it and froze the meat, no one in the family would touch it, he finally ate some of it, I can't remember if it was any good or not. We lived there for 40 years, I still miss that lake and and those six acres!

Also my sons now have memories of going fishing with their grandpa on his boat when they were younger. 🙂❤️ My dad actually gave his boat to my son that’s married. Because at almost 82 my dad doesn’t fish anymore.

It's so beautiful to see that you and Houston have such a tight bond. My father passed away when I was 13. I was daddy's little girl. I wish he was here so we could enjoy life together. I have 4 boys so I try to spend as much time as I can with them whether in person or on the phone because life is too short to miss out. When I go fishing I use corn and sometimes stink spray and catch all sorts of fish. You should give it a try sometime. I love you all.💗💗💗

We use to go fishing with our grandma when we were younger, she use to tell us that you had to be quiet, because the fish could hear you and it would scare them away! She’s been gone forty some years. But they were fun times! But she use to fish for blue gill and crappies, not bass.

Dan, when you hang a snag like you did, did the line bury in the spool a little bit? If it did, try this trick. Hold you rod and reel in your right hand, with your left hand grab the line in front of the reel and wrap it back toward you around the outside of the reel at least twice. then pull your line to break it like you did. By wrapping the line backwards you take all the pressure off the spool and line. Good to see you'alll catching fish in your pond.

I will stick to my bell top reels! My boy, brother-in-law, and nephews all give me heck about not using big boy bait caster reels! Well, at least up till the time we get into the sandbass frenzy, and then the joke is on them while they are fixing the bird’s nest of line while I’m catching fishing! Our boat ain’t quite ready yet, but it sounds by rumors, we will be having a great year with stripers and sandbass this year!
