So we've heard John, Daron, and Shavo all say they would have put out multiple albums if they could. I didn't want to assume anything but the fact he said it's one guy makes it blatantly obvious it's Serj. I just wish they could get on the same page.

i hate how whenever serj is asked about it he acts as if its due to all of the band members being on different pages, when in reality its JUST him. he could at the very least stop making everything so confusing and take the goddamn blame for there being no new soad album, because at this point its beyond obvious everyone else has been wanting to get back in the studio except him.

I rock out just as hard to Scars as I do System. Serj’s Empty Walls album was pretty rocking but his sound has degraded fast. Daron is just as rocking as ever and I don’t see him turning it down anytime soon. Get it together, Serj.

Slayden Reed I would agree with you 5 years ago. They are very different voices that compliment each other surprisingly well. And Serj is known for one of the best voices in all of metal, But the fact still remains that Serjs vocals are degrading fast while Darons vocal style has not degraded with time yet. I still love serj but I don’t think his new music is anywhere close to as rocking as Darons.

I’m correct, here’s a conversation with an interviewer on a interview Victims Of A Down shared: You’ve played all the instruments on Dictator just like you did on the first album. Why didn’t you want to bring in other musicians? It was just easier for me at the time. I had some personal things going on in my life and it was a little bit of a stressful time for me a few years back. I kinda went into the studio to get away and it was almost like therapy. I’d go in there for a week or two and just get away from my real world and lock myself in the studio and record.

What ever the reason for not recording with the band again- SOAD is one of the most popular bands that actually has a message worth sending to their listeners. They've changed history in their own way, whether its by influencing people subtly or blatantly like they has to so many of us. What I'm getting at- is we need SOAD at this time now more than ever, when the world is actually waking up to politics and getting closer to for ever defining human rights. Its hard to point to a 'very popular' band now a days that is actually talking about the issues. Rise Against is the only one that comes to mind.

exactly. I believe Serj has even mentioned that in one of his interviews. He does inacous inhale scream, but glowl and regular scream can really put some damage on the chords, so he does not use them as much. Although I think he overestimates the danger.

So I see everyone saying it’s Serj’s fault there is no album and it probably is. However, in a recent newsletter sent out from Serj, he states that he wrote 5 rock songs that he wanted to do with System but it didn’t work out. To me that sounds like Daron shot it down because he wants to be the music writer or the songs were different and Serj wants to change it up. Serj always mentions changing up his music style because he doesn’t want to do the same thing. So yes Serj is holding it back but only because the rest of the band doesn’t give him creative freedom. I guess now we just wait for Serj to release those song solo and see what could have been.

The reason fans are mad is because Serj is acting like a broken old man who no longer cares about getting his message put on a huge platform. It seems like he's taken everything for granted and become disgusted with his fun loving past. He looks bitter all the time. Seems like if he's willing to play shows with little effort and still get paid a ton of money from his fans, he should be able to write, or at least record, a new album. Daron writes most of it anyways.

well it's obvious that Serj wants to change the style and by that I mean he would go much more into pop/folk, which suits his actual vocal range. He can't scream anymore, that's a fact. Imagine the uproar if they did something like that. You've seen what happened to Linkin Park. Their last album was overproduced pop. I'd rather have nothing than anything like that and I appreciate their honesty at that point. Not many bands pull through that. As to Serj's explanation: I think it's an excuse about unfair split of royalties. 1. Why did he agree back then, if it was sooo unfair that Daron got paid much more? (He wrote and produced the albums btw) 2. Why is he still touring with the band? Also him shitting on Mezmerize/Hypnotize while the albums earned them Grammys and sold millions is just plain disrespectful. I smell jealousy in there...

Why can’t anyone admit Serj’s solo shit completely fucking blows? He’s not the most talented member of the group just because he’s the frontman and his voice is original. They found a niche and embraced it with their eastern scales and jazz fusion articulately experimental simple metal and the music will last forever. As long as they’re all still alive on this planet, another System album is possible. For now I for one am feeling blessed that Daron is still releasing music. Because he’s an excellent songwriter. Despite his sketchy vocals and lyrics. His lyrics are alright actually, it’s just not that deep. Who cares though right? It’s fuckin dope. I enjoy it. Nothing else fuckin matters.

There's no point in making another album. The goal of system was to raise awareness about the Armenian genocide and they did just that. Serj does his stuff, Daron does his, Shavo and John do theirs. Olegario Carrillo completely agree. Don’t get me wrong, I love serj! I’d love nothing more than a new system album, with all of them in their prime. I honesty think a big factor for serj isn’t just all his other projects, I don’t think he’s fully capable anymore. Sabbath had to decide to move on without Ozzy or end the band. The band is bigger than he individual, even if that individual is ozzy or serj.
