Looks so much like Eddie Cochran's guitar 😎 I love the p-90 in the neck position. I just ordered a streamliner hollow body that comes with a p-90 in the same position. Not the same guitar but its the closest I can get....

I do enjoy listening to Darrell discuss his guitars and other gear. What a player, and I bet he can do blues and jazz pretty well too.

yes yes yes / ever since I watch this video of Darrel with this Gretsch I wanted one/ I have 8 Gretsch 6120/ and can make them all sound the same which is good you don't have to return when doing a gig, but this tribute guitar to Eddie just sounded a bit different so I sent the one, hoping Darrel was not over selling it / [ it does happen ] it came opened the tweed case and just the first look was wow that's different got my hands on it , and plugged it into my old amp/ and I tell you EVERY WORD DARREL SAID IS TRUE IT IS LIKE HEARING A GRETSCH FOR THE FIRST TIME [ thanks Darrel ] and now I have bought 2 more but now I always ask the custom shop to make them, it costs a hell of a lot more money but when you here it you will know it is worth every penny, Rj-and the Wild Cat's ............

Are we seeing two guitars here? In the first clip the 6120 has a T V Jones (?) pickup in the neck position. For the rest of the video it has the P90. Anyway, great video!
@linclink
@linclink 8 жыл бұрын
Yup... first one,during the opening, has TV Jones version of Dynasonics (T-Armonds) & a gold pickguard... the second a P-90 in the neck (a la Eddie Cochran) & a clear pickguard...

what would be the difference of an off the shelf Eddie Cochran signature vs a custom shop? I think the pups are from a different maker on the off the shelf version.

No mention of Chet Atkins who designed this guitar and who inspired Eddy Cochran and thousands of others
@joeblack8915
@joeblack8915 9 ай бұрын
Just because he wasn't mentioned doesn't mean he was being disrespected. The video wasn't meant to be a history lesson, for crying out loud! His involvement with Gretsch began in 1954 with the 6120 Hollow Body. Although the bulk of the design was already in place by the time Chet arrived, he had a significant influence on the design by requesting the addition of a metal bridge, metal nut, and Bigsby tailpiece. So, no, he didn't wholly design the guitar.

1. That's his words not mine 2. I have listened to most his albums and no they do not include blues 3. If you think that just because rockabilly/rocknroll has its roots in blues, it makes it equall to blues, then we have a very different understanding of what is going on
