Hi Darrell, I have a beloved black cat, and I was victimized by a “ charismastic” sociopath who convinced police and the court that I did horrible things that he himself did to me (I won my case and have videos about it on my channel). My heart really goes out to you. I wish I could give you a hug because on a much smaller scale I can understand your frustration. I am in shock at the actions and decisions of the homicide victim. I don’t even know what to say… I do not normally make comments like this to strangers on KZbin or social media, but I felt compelled to share this note.

This may be the biggest fail in justice system I’ve ever seen. You were falsely arrested and thrown in jail whilst the police did nothing about Scott despite multiple calls which resulted in an elderly woman’s murder.

Came from the Netflix series. All tragic stories but your story stuck with me. As a fellow cat owner I have to complement your self restaint, I am not sure how I would've handled going through that. Darrell I want you to know how much I cried for your situation. I went to live with my mother in law in 2019 and wound up in the exact situation you did. I mean every detail. If you are not completely sick of discussing your tragedy I'd love to hear your thoughts. Documentaries leave so much out and I honestly want to know what else you may suggest when it comes to healing from this sort of trauma. I'm a lot better now but I still have so much anger and resentments. You were not just a victim of Scott's you were also a victim of Anita. When people like Scott enter a situation with an agenda they will immediately attempt to tear down another person's honest intentions in order to appear like they have the mutual person's best interest. It was infuriating hearing her side with that guy completely forgetting the progress you had already established in a mutually beneficial tenancy situation. The worst part of your story was you beautiful babies. I couldn't be more sorry about what could have possibly happened. My story includes my cats as well. I sincerely hope you are doing fantastic these days and I really hope we may be able to speak on day. Best wishes! LM

Im so sorry for what happened to your cats, i just can't get over it and how the doc barely paid much attention to it and moved to the next thing, i wish you could have left them with someone when you went out of town or called someone to pick them up when you got arrested. That guy was pure evil to do that to innocent animals and should have been a warning to everyone before he did it to her. I don't know how I will handle when my 2 cats are gone even if they live very long lives. I Hope you are doing ok now.

Came in from the Netflix episode. I blame the justice system the most for the false report and your arrest. Anyone can lie about anything they want. If any false accusation is sufficient to get anyone arrested, then the justice system is biggest failure.

I cannot imagen what else the show left out. My Lord, yours and the one from season 1 are very similar because both guys probably suffered from the same problem: psychopathy. Nway, I'm glad you are doing better now. I hope you got some compensation from the injustice done to you. Can't believe how the police didn't do any legwork and just put you in jail. But here you are and I'm happy no other harm was done to you by that horrible man.

Heck yeah we want details! I went through a similar situation renting a room off Craigslist. The drunk narcissist I was renting from was trying to sell my pugs while I was at work. I got out of there doing much better now. It really upsets me that they killed your cats. If I hadn't got out when I did who knows what would have happened to my pugs. I wish you the best in life, and so sorry that you had to go through that hell, and I can empathize with your situation .

Hey Darrell, its good to see you on here, and moving forward with your life, that's wonderful. Scott Pettigrew is a dangerous person and its very sad that Anita ended losing her life at the hands of Scott, as well as she didn't bother to wake up when you were warning her about the type of person Scott is, as well as it's very sad that you went to jail because of the lies Scott had concocted, what a scumbag he is, and he's right where he belongs. Sadly this day in time, there are far more people in this country and in the world, just like Scott. I say let this documentary and your testimony being a wake up call, for those who are still asleep, is also how I look at it. Did u ever confront anita about the cats? Or did you just let it be after scott told you that? The netflix doc kinda just left it at scott telling you anita killed them but never mentioned how you responded yo that situation at the time.
