Darren is one of those drummers you're super glad to see getting spotlighted in things like this because talent and creativity like he shows really deserves a wider audience.

I keep coming back to this video, I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. I get goosebumps every single time at 2:04, and I just sit here in awe. I love what this guy does with his drums. It's a sublime groove and his fluidity and sense of time is just beautiful. And I love his passion. The soundscape the whole band creates here is a joy to behold.

he plays an old rogers kit, his rack tom and floor tom are both 13 inches but are tuned differently, and he uses tape and pieces of old drum heads to dampen his drums. that deep shell sound is awesome!

You can find a interview with the band back stage and he talks about his set up. He uses really high quality cymbals, vintage kits and snares, all muffled with tape and no resonating heads, some electronics, and some random ass roto toms. Super inspiring to think about we can get away with live with such an unconventional live set up.
