musicality, dynamics, groove 10/10 the best that i love is the finesse in your playing Anika .. finesse is so rare!:) I love the 0:41 also could you enlighten me how do you count it or like just the basic concept about it i think this song is in 8/8 so I count 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and in line with the metronome...how do I count silently in my head to do the 0:41 in relative to the beat? thanks!! :)

It's just a masterpiece, your game, the game of a top-level professional, started listening and couldn't come off until the video ended. I really like all your compositions, but some of them are mind-blowing and immerse you in the depth of the composition so much that after listening you remain impressed and scroll through everything you heard in your head over and over again. Anika, thank you so much for your skill and gift to my ears and soul. You are the best!!! 🤘

After watching several of Anika's videos (several times each), I am convinced that she will be the "female" drummer that will put an end to referring to drummers as male or female. She is one of the best drummers today............period.
@ashimotoakai95994 жыл бұрын
@@voltototo So what is she lacking to be considered one of the best drummers?
@mark-dev-14 жыл бұрын
@@ashimotoakai9599 I have an opinion. Not that she is not good enough or smth. It's just that she is as good as the next guy/girl. The level of musicianship in the world is just so insanely high. She always can be one of the best in YOUR book, but not in the whole world. There are some completely insanely talented and dedicated ppl who are just like a chameleon - playing multiple styles very, very good, always reinvdnting themselves etc. What makes Anika special is that she specifically, in her practice, focuses on subdivisions that are less used, so that makes her more noticable. I agree that she is very, very good player. We each have our own critera by which we stand and differentiate good drummers from excellent so it's even pointless to debate hehe, but here i am.
@ashimotoakai95994 жыл бұрын
@@mark-dev-1 No the problem I have with his explanation is that he's just saying: "Oh... This person isn't the best... that person isn't the best" but he doesn't put out an explanation as to why. I deeply believe that in order for people to communicate we need to be able to lay down explanations. I highly dislike people calling something good or bad for the sake of saying its good or bad. Or just because they have a certain something against another person. Not saying that the person above does, but I just would like to know why she wouldn't be considered one of the best in the world. In my opinion she is definitely world-class but I don't put her as best in the world. The best player in the world to me is Matt Garstka, and no one will be changing my decision. But I think it's still best to know why people think things and whether or not that person is legit or just hating. He could say Anika isnt one of the best in the world because she has poor time, in which I would say fuck you and go learn the basics of drumming again. Context is always important you know. But hey I like your explanation and i feel like your a reasonable person so no shade, just opinion.
@ashimotoakai95994 жыл бұрын
@@voltototo I would understand if you said someone like Thomas Lang, or Simon Phillips or Purdie but Tony Royster? I get that he's really skilled but he definitely isn't more skilful. They are definitely more on the same level. I just don't see him being on a whole other league when being compared to Anika. Maybe I just I haven't heard him play enough but I don't think he's out of her league.

I came to this video expecting the whole "look at me I'm a girl drummer!!" Thing. Needless to say, I was completely blown away. I got goosebumps when you pulled off that first fill right after the real bass pedal driving "pre chorus" I guess? I only wish I was half as smooth and precise and flawless in my technique as you are. Makes me wanna go home and practice till I can get those down. Seriously. 5/5 for me. Nothing bad to say. Filming was great, sound quality was superb, and the whole feel of the video was like a breath of fresh air from the normal metalcore and super complicated stuff that's all over KZbin. There was just enough flair to make it a perfect combination of that and simple, yet powerful beats. Such a groovy drive. Bravo. Chills.

@Autos_ena_miden10 жыл бұрын
I must totally agree with the "boobs" reference, but we have to admit that she has a really pretty face on the other hand... :P I can catch your point, though, mate, because her ghost notes can make you focus your attention rather than her (very pretty) looks....
@MrDrunkPotato10 жыл бұрын
dude i don´t understand why you brag about the boobs. i agree that female drummers ( meytal ) should cover a little, but don´t just sexualize the boobs. Just by judging a persons ability for her appearences seems pretty unlogical to me. but don´t get me wrong, i do agree that she´s an amazingly superb skillful drummer.
@stoutdrums10 жыл бұрын
MrDrunkPotato it's illogical, and boobs are sexual, there's no way around that, one of the roles of breasts is to arouse the male. So i agree with Bryan Kanieski it's unnecessary for a chick drummer to have her boobs out.
@gargantula327410 жыл бұрын
MrDrunkPotato I can't stand most chick drummers (Meytal included) because, aside from trying too hard to beautify themselves, they just look awkward and sloppy, even if their hits are right on the money. This chick though, she looks natural as hell, like she's just immersed in the performance. Nothing shoddy or awkward about it.
