This was an extremely emotional and powerful episode about mental health. Luke annoyed me in this i thought if anyone would understand its him. I was crying in the end. R.I.P Kyle he was a true legend 😢

Please, if you are feeling depressed don't take on someone else's interpretation of what, who and why you are or should be. You find someone who really will listen and you find support. You are no less of a man. Xx I suspected as a lot of us did that Kyle couldn't go on. This is an amazing show and one we always learn something from.

I've been there many times so close to the edge there should be more storylines like this Hollyoaks do it so well they did it 20 years ago with Lewis in a different way but both storylines touch me profoundly

Honestly, I can't blame him. He can't fathom how it can affect people. To him, depression is an adjective rather than a noun. I mean... technically, his character shouldn't act this way, but I get that they want to represent how people react to the idea.

That’s true and I think Darren was a great choice for this storyline because of that. Heres a man who was always so happy, so upbeat. He has a partner who clearly loves him very much, great friends and kids that absolutely adore him, Charlie, Ella, DJ, Oscar and Ollie. You would never expect him to feel like he did during this storyline. Best choice for it and Ashley was brilliant!

@@simsimme1799 Unfortunately things became too much for Kyle and he took his own life. For Darren it's something IMO that the writers have been building for years for him. His life has been one disaster after another. He had a problem with a gambling addiction, he went to prison for drug dealing and he has ruined every relationship he has ever been in. In the last few years he had an affair with another woman while they were both married and it resulted in the end of both marriages when the truth came out. He started a relationship with the woman he had an affair with and things were going really well until he found out the child she was carrying, which he thought was his, actually was her ex's. It really started to spiral from there and thats where we saw clear signs of his struggling. He kinda saw the baby as a fresh start for him so he was obviously devastated when he wasn't his. But it wasn't just that it was a culmination of a few things all coming together and became too much for him.

@@simsimme1799 I have been looking at old episodes recently and it makes total sense the writers picked this character for the storyline. Darren was always the joker, the one who made people laugh, always smiling BUT also a character who messes up time and time again. I just think it all got too much for him. Yes a lot of the things he did were his own fault but you never want to see someone suffer in this way. Thankfully he told Mandy what was going on and she tried to help so things didn't end the same way they did for him as they did for Kyle. He eventually sought professional help and had his family, friends and partner to help him.

I'm curious to know why she couldn't tell the bosses straight away. Why only when she quit did she feel safe to tell people? Hollyoaks need some retraining and fast. And now they've got a problem with Laila Rouass and their calendars.......

Laila is just jumping on the bandwagon to become relevant again. Nobody made her do those calendars, and she did one for footballers wives too and never complained, not to mention the FHM magazine and others.

@@charlalar14 the difference between the Hollyoaks calendar and the others was a choice. From what she is saying it's do the calendar or lose your job. Laila didn't want to do it but they booked her a flight to Spain for the shoot regardless. She probably made a conscious decision to do the other stuff and knew what the jobs entailed but if Hollyoaks ambushed her mid contract then that was wrong. Just because she did it before doesn't give anybody the right to expect her to do it because they didn't have any one else on the show (Laila's words) that looked like her. Have you ever noticed too how many bikini selfies turn up, Nikki Sanderson, Jorgie Porter, Amanda Clapham. Coincidence? Or is because the calendars stopped? Maybe I'm just getting too cynical.
