@@DarrenMostyn Actually, I have a real question. I paused my work last night on a project, and am now looking to continue where I left off on the Cut page, using the source tape. Right-click the last clip and "Find in Media Pool" finds the clip all right, but when turning on the source tape again, it would be good to have a way for the cursor to land on the clip that I just selected in the Pool. Best I can figure is to remember the clip name and then scrub the source tape (or select the clips with up/down arrows) until it is highlighted in the Pool. Any idea how to just jump straight to it?

Excellent Darren - The Cut page for multicam is intriguing to me - Not sure if there is another software that has that kind of feature - pretty much every NLE I have used uses a traditional approach. I cut a multicam live rock concert lately and the workflow changed slightly, but the ide of say viewing the durm camera angle by itself and seeing a very cool drum fill - marking the in and out and then just dropping in sync on the top of the video got me thinking of the edit approach - so I then dropped in the guitar solo camera angles and then some back up singers etc. and the edit was almost finished. The playback somehow should be set up to accommodate this though. The one clip viewing and dropping would be better if all the clips didn't require playing back - last show had 14 camera angles - so playback meant to make the proxies really small to get smooth playback. But that is the only time I had using the CUT page and there does not seem to be much information online on it. So I probably didn't use it to it's full potential - So I am a "yes" on the idea of you doing a full tutorial on that. Thanks again.

Very helpful: had me at "no intro!" on some and even the intros are short. Appreciate the quick pace of delivery (heck, there's a rewind button on these machines). I will try the Source Tape and the Cut page (been avoiding learning it but I see advantages. Merci). I want to pull cutaway sub-clips from a wandering interview camera and put them in a bin so I can see thumbnails. Have not figured out how to do this. Can make a timeline of these sub-clips which would work but I think a bin would be a non-linear way of seeing them, then insert them in to the master from there. Can you help? Thanks and cheers.

Very good explanation. Thank you! One question - is it possible, within daVinci Resolve Source Tape mode, to rename the clips produced in that mode, while quick-selecting the 'highlights' of each roll? Thank you for all of the information... Im here in the older videos searching around to see if there is a way to keep multiple In / Outs referenced on one clip (like how in FCPX you can I/o and favorite sections all in one clip)... its seems in Resolve I can I/o append and do it again, but it only keeps the most recent - not sure if that makes any sense - but if it does... is there a way?

As an example, if there are three takes of the one scene and I scrub through and find the best take... After cutting the in and out points on a clip in the source viewer, how do you playback just to see from the In to the Out point and looping to see if it is good? Nobody seems to talk about this part. If you click on the arrows, it just continue to play to the end! Some other program will just play the cut part only. Tks.

My request would be a masking tutorial! And in particular how to work with multiple layers, without leaving a huge mess of tracking points. That would be amazing to see! Anyway thanks again for a great video! I'm a big fan of your channel!

Thanks for this helpful post. When I switch to Source Tape, my audio level drops. It's fine when I go to timeline or watch the source clip, it's just that in Source Tape mode the audio is super low. Is there a level adjust just for Source Tape?

Thanks for this tutorial! I was wandering if you go into the source tape with all your clips already marked with in and out is there a way to display onlythe selected portion of these clips and not the whole duration of each clip?

Yes , put them in a new 'subclipped' timeline.

what id REALLY like to know, and cant find it anywhere.. is there a way to save edits from clips into a bin. in FCPX theres a way to "in"/"out" mark parts of a clip and it will be marked as a "favorite". you can even do this multiple times on a single clip..FCP will then put a green line in your marked spot. then you can just hit "show favorites". is there a way in resolve to maybe create a bin and save "favorite" parts of clips to use? so basically before I even BEGIN to make decisions on the cut page, I want to trim all the fat off WITHOUT having to create a timeline. thanks so much for your contributions to the community. love your tuts.

i always thought that cut page was added for fast editor like daily vlog youtubers, so I never took the time, if you say that it might be interesting , I would love to learn more about it :) thank you

Its coming! Plenty of people asking about cut page. It is for speed editing but certainly not limited to types of edit.

When I go to set the in/out point in when using the "Source Clip" mode, the in/out marks follow the clip later on in the project when I want to return to it and reuse that same clip. But, if I do the same thing using "Source Tape" mode, the in/out marks do NOT follow the clip later on in the project when I want to return to it and reuse that same clip. What am I missing and is there a way to have both the permanent in/out marks, while using Source Tape mode?

Thanks for your professional explain. I have one question which is how to deal with external audio files if there are no proper timecode recording or slate? Am I going to match them one by one?

Hello Pete, You can sync audio files by waveform if you have recorded internal camera mic too, else by Mark in if no TC sync.

Love your videos! New subscriber. My question is: Can DaVinci Resolve allow selection of multiple selections in the same clip, similar to how FCP allows your to select and keyword FAVORITES, for easy insertion into video later on?? I cannot find anyone who knows the answer to this!!

can you elaborate ? Do you mean multiple points in ONE long clip for eg.?? Subclips ? you can use markers on one long clip and then convert to subclips. let me know if you meant something else ?
