Really enjoyed this one Darren, imagine there was a time before the engineers had realized the obvious use of a simple rotary selector instead of push buttons. Hope you get this ones resistance back in line, would be nice to see it working. Nice retro review-!!

Thx Mike...I really like this multimeter. Hopefully I can get that resistance mode to cooperate 👍

Nice retro meter. I like it how the buttons are on the opposite side as the “usual suspects”.

True enough..Amprobe was definitely letting their creative juices flow with this model.

What a beauty 😍. Hope you'll manage to find and fix the problem of the resistance mode, Darren, and bring this awesome elder back in action. Keep on testing! 🤜🤛

I'll try again over the holidays..👍

Oh that resistance range, would be great just to see it working again. Appreciate seeing these older units Darren. My first proper meter supplied by an employer was a Beckman, forget the model but think it was a 3020 but probably am wrong 😅.

I was pretty confident the IPA would get the resistance back ontrack buuut..can't win em all eh Derek..👍 Beckmans are beautiful meters..more on the way in RETRO-TECH.

That is so neat, I bought my first meter around the time this was made, but I went old school analogue, wasn't trusting that new fangled LCD tech😀

Hehe..Yes, it took awhile before the Digital Multimeter became the norm.

Hi Darren. Nice video. OMG, WTF is that. This is the emperor's multimeter ))) But I must admit that the Japanese have done, do and will do very cool things. They do things for the domestic market that some countries never dreamed of. What can I say. In the 2000s, they made such cars for the domestic market, in which there were already technologies that we only saw after 2012. Such as a 360 camera, a line assistant who turns the steering wheel himself when the car leaves the lane, automatic parking and much more. Hello to you and your wife)) Glory to Ukraine )

Its definitely a colorful beast.. Yes the Japanese have done some incredible things in the technology realm..Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦

Very Cool. The oldest meter I have is an analog Micronta from 1983. Have you seen the Amazon meters? They have one for 15 bucks which would fit well in the cheapo series.

The MICRONTA multimeters are definitely classics..Btw, I've ordered a couple of the Amazon multimeters for review 👍

Both Amprobe AM-5 and Fluke 8024B look quite interesting. I wonder how durable the buttons were. It seems a rotary selector wasn’t only more convenient, but just in general a better option. And now we are going back to push-buttons on our smart meters. I really enjoy seeing how technology changes and evolves over time. But I’m sure we’ll never have multimeter cases like that one. What a pity.

There's a great thing about multimeters that you just don't see with most technical devices. Even though the instruments have evolved (for better or for worse) even a 40 year old multimeter is still a valid piece of test equipment that can hold its own against today's meters. Gotta love that ! 😀

Hi Darren. I received my house 616 today. I'll tell you a little report. I got the old version. Well, how old ... They showed that they now have a new case, where the numbers 616 are in the corner, and I got where the numbers 616 are in the center under the screen. The multimeter probes are standard 10A, half gray and half colored. At first they worked a little worse than my homemade ones with a good wire, but when I slightly cleaned the ends with 2000th sandpaper, then they began to work well. The 7502 main chip works fine. The call is very fast. Resistance shows very well. It measures capacitors - not very fast but not slower than its competitors. The voltage measures perfectly, exactly. I can't measure the current strength - I need an exact detail. NCV works and works well enough. Do you know how to check where the phase is in the outlet? I answer. You put the device on the AC voltage position and put any 1 probe into any socket. Where there will be 2 times more voltage, there will be a phase. Or you turn on the NCV mode and stick any 1 probe into the socket - where there is a phase, there the NCV will make a sound. But I think you knew these tricks, and if you didn’t know, then welcome to you) There are problems with the screen, with viewing angles, but I knew about this in advance, so I was not upset. In general, they are the same as the 113d. In 102 and any other RM made on the basis of the 102nd, the angles are certainly better, but the multimeters themselves are worse in accuracy - this is 100%. The 616 seemed to me to have very good accuracy and speed of work. It measures the temperature perfectly, boiling water is exactly 100 degrees Celsius.I haven't taken it apart yet, but I already know what's inside. Useless flashlight, like everyone else. The backlight is on for 30 seconds. Few(( The Energy Screen doesn't require much. LEDs illuminate any. Since he and others like him work on 3x AAA, it can easily be transferred to a single lithium battery at 3.7 - 4.2v. In general, I will wait for your review and I hope that you will come across such a good copy. I think that she will measure the current strength too accurately. You torture him well))) I think that for $ 11 this is the best multimeter. And before you could buy it for $ 7, can you imagine. Freebie)))

Glad first Impressions are positive! I'm still awaiting the 616. The multimeters accuracy and speed sound good..anxiously awaiting to review this model! щасливого Різдва🎅

@@KeepOnTesting Дякую ))) To continue the tests, today I took from a neighbor Mastech MS8233Z. This is such a trash in comparison with the Lom 616. The 450 uF capacitor could not measure in 1 minute. 1 minute and no result. Resistance is only able to measure very small, because large resistance makes small mistakes. The screen is about the same. Crona stands inside. And the price is 2 times more expensive. Wasted money ... This mastech loses in everything.
