the last new trucks I bought were in 2016 as gliders because I refuse to buy any of these new POS. And yes I used C15s, C18s, and Series60s in them because after the N14 Cummins made junk. These old NTC 335s and 380s were the engines to have and I have a 1970 W925 with a 380 in it with a Spicer 4X4 2 stick and Dana rears.

How well does the ol Cummins 335 pull a load? Wouldn’t mind finding an old KW with one of these just to haul grain from the farm to the grain terminal. Then take to truck shows when it’s off the clock!
@Darstrom4 жыл бұрын
No idea myself. It was in duty until the 80s in the States and after retirement it was used a while hauling antique machinery by a private collector. Never heard them talk about problems pulling a load. I wouldn't doubt it unless you're competing with modern engines!
@Darstrom4 жыл бұрын
I would totally encourage you to do so though! But as you might know if you find a needle nosed KW with an original engine it'll probably have a 220 / 275 or similar

@@fireburst102 I think the 335 came in the 60s correct me if I'm totally wrong. And you're right, they still produced needle noses in the early 60s. Love this truck bro been watching since the first vid ya dropped on her. I have one question. When you downshift to make a turn or something or take a hill, do you shift the compound gears and walk it from the top down or just slow down enough to grab the next main gear? And if ya did walk it through both sticks down, would ya grab the next main gear with compound in neutral then grab 4 compound? Thanks and thanks for letting us see this badass ride 😁
@Darstrom5 жыл бұрын
Wow that's great to hear! Thanks for staying around!! What I usually do when slowing down or before a hill is to shift the aux box down 2 steps so either 4 to 2 or 3 to 1. After so, if needed, I will go down one main and leave the aux where it is. Shifting down from example 4x3 to 3x4 is something I've never done because it is rather complicated. There is no way you can leave either one in neutral more than a spit second while shifting the other one. So I'm not sure I understood your questions correctly but I hope I cleared something up.
@Kimmiesman245 жыл бұрын
@@Darstrom that answered it perfectly thanks for the reply its just one of those things that is rarely talked about.
