What a cracking video. I used to play darts years ago, but never considered how the flights affected the throw & no one ever talked about it. Now I've started playing again, I will definitely be checking out which are the best for my throw. Brilliant illustration. Cheers.

Never really thought about it but now I’m interested!

I appreciate your videos like this. It helps me choose out of the options.

Anyone else find that using kflex and winmau fusion etc makes the dart fly all over the place and land at side angles? I find them terrible

that was an awesome video enjoyed that! also love the Ryan Searle shirts in the back ground

According to LoveDarts' video on the Condor flights, the Condor Axe are actually lighter than a standard nylon stem and flight combo. Interesting that you seemed to think they were heavier 🤔
@thorntondarts49542 жыл бұрын
You are right actually, weighed them myself, but just don’t feel right, maybe it’s more to do with the weight distribution than overall weight on the condor, but just didn’t sit quite right for me
@matt_dobson06142 жыл бұрын
@@thorntondarts4954 I reckon it's the flight part of the Condors making up more of the total weight compared to a normal stem and flight, so the centre of mass is a little further back.

Great video 👍 going to have a play around with my setup now. Cheers

I play mainly soft tip in the USA here. Ive been using L style for quite some time, but hard to store due to warping. They still do get burred up like a regular 100 micron flight would. Now ive been considering going back with 100 micron standard shape because they are much quicker to the board compared to a cosmo or L style ... 400 micron or more. Feels like a parachute after sometime. And with being a soft tip player its much harder to robinhood. Im not sure i ever have since i punch the flights. The standard 100 micron and nylon stems has me leaning that way from price alone.

I found that players that have a light throw generally use thinner flights. also larger shapes to aid with the flight of the dart.

Nice, that's why I normally use 75 micron flights, I will have to change them more often but they bend & won't deflect so much. Should do a video with all the systems (Robson, Condor, L-Style, Cosmo, Cuesoul, Click System, Stealth flights, Whizlock System, L-Style Shell Lock punch system ...)

Might have to try this.

I use L-style kite flights and carbon shafts they last about 8months and are pricey but when I use regular kite flight I tend to have robins all the time. Everyone is different and customizing your setup takes time.
@thorntondarts49542 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, on the set up taking time, think many people just tend to stick with the norm, some people tend to play around with shape, but don’t see much about people trying different thickness, hence the video :) I used the L-style carbons with the no.6 shape for a while, they were okay but I’ve gone back to standard 100 micron now

Usually switch between 100/75, feel you can’t go much wrong with them

I have home made flights that weigh next to nothing and are so flexible that they just move out of the way when a dart hits them, No deflections, and no drop outs. I have even had a dart go right through the flight and hit its target. Even then the ripped flight still worked as well as a freshly made one. I make them out of extra thin wrapping acetate film (like you get around some greetings cards. I fold them but crucially do not glue them. They are aerodynamically much better than most flights (folded flights always are) so dont slow the dart as much in the air, and they seem to stabilise thedart much more quickly due to the lack of mass. I will never buy a set of flights again. As an alternative you can use crisp packet film, though this is thicker and heavier.

Wow, I am using Viper Cool flights and the package says 400 microns on the package, lol. Wonder if that has anything to do with the following: I have noticed that often when I throw a dart almost on top of another, they meet in a V-shape (points together and flights spread out).

I'm happy with the standard 100 micron flights. I really like the Condor Axe flights, but my darts were flying a bit off with them. I like the thinness of 75 micron flights, but like your video shows the angle is just a little too high for my liking.
@thorntondarts49542 жыл бұрын
Yeah, think it depends on the darts you used too, some darts will go higher than others, and I also just couldn’t get on with the axe as well, the weight turns out is lighter than my current set up, but feels so odd

Try the l style shell lock caps and punch i love them less bounce outs and better grouping

i tried 150 micron flights after Shauny Mac posted about how much he liked them ... i hated them, they're by far too unforgiving when the flights inevitably collide ... back on 100 micron
@thorntondarts49542 жыл бұрын
Yeah, think thats a main reason my many people prefer the 100 area, it’s a good compromise of flex and rigid
