A few days ago a user created a theory on reddit about how Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars may actually be a Sith Master, here I am explaining the theory in-depth. All hail Sith Lord Binks.

At this point I feel like it’s unofficially confirmed as the original plan for the prequels. Jar Jar IS Plagueis, and the Muun that they shoehorned in after the backlash to Jar Jar is an ass pull. Jar Jar dropping his accent and igniting his saber just as Yoda puts it together that HE is the Sith master would’ve been the most iconic movie scene EVER.

To be honest, as much as I hated the Jar Jar character in the first movie, had Lucas gone ahead and made the plot twist with Jar Jar being a Sith Lord, I believe, that I would have eventually accepted the foolishnes of the character in the first movie. Simply because his behaviour would have made sense in a "you just wait and see" kind of way. It would have been an amazing plot twist.

I always found it strange how the Jedi are convinced that there can only be two Sith, a master and a apprentice. The rule of two could be an excellent ploy by the Sith, what a better way than to convince your enemy your reach is limited to just two.

After the Rule of Two was established, it was a legitimate law that was strictly followed. Towards the end of the high republic, some Sith masters trained secondary Sith apprentices like assassins, and warriors. By the time Palpatine and Plagueis were working together, training lesser Sith apprentices was common practice. Although the Jedi did not know of this.

Jar Jar was the phantom Menace. AKA operated as a Phantom. Then when his work was done faded into the background like a phantom. Also I think it would be great if they made a series about Jar Jar. Honestly, this must’ve been real at some point. I think I recall an interview with George Lucas where he says something like “Jar Jar is the key to all of this”. Could’ve been a joke, but it doesn’t seem so. I think the most crucial part is Jar Jar’s smile in Qui Gon’s funeral. It’s important to note his CGI movement is specifically intentional. I truly believe that at some point in time this was canon. I wish the plot point wasn’t dropped

George Lucas saying Jar Jar is the key to all of this, isn’t about the actual character’s importance but rather the fact he was the first full CGI character in StarWars and if they got him down then doing the CG for the rest would be easier. They’re quite literally going over the story boards as he’s saying it. He’s the key to everything since the whole reason why the prequels came out way after the original trilogy was because the technology wasn’t there at the time yet so getting Jar Jar done would be a key milestone in the creation of the film and the following ones.

Lucas could technically still make Jar Jar the Sith Lord. I can't remember what he was seen doing last in Episode II, but Jar Jar could approach Palpatine once the Empire is at its peak and try to rip him from his throne, just for Sidious or Vader to fight back (possibly together). There are also little hints like Jar Jar smiling as he enter the hose where Anakin lives he tilts his head and does a sideways smile, he does the same kind of smile when fixing the pod racer and there’s a theory when on the Ship when R2D2 slapped him and after he left Har Jar broke the hyper drive someone even put up a map of where the hyper drive is and it was exactly where Jar Jar was. There is a good video called evil Jar Jar moments where more evidence is pointed out.

It could perfectly be that Jar Jar is a sith lord, even more so considering that in the far past there were thousands, if not millions of sith, enough to form the Sith Empire, the rule of two could have even been something outdated that Jar Jar and other Siths used against the Jedi to fool them and hide the real number of Siths (I mean, Siths were hiding for thousands of years, who says that when one of them just sent the rule of two to trash and have more apprentices or something similar)

I really do think George was intending for Jar Jar to be the main villain, though all the backlash made him reconsider that. He should've stuck with it though, it would've been a great twist like Yoda being a Jedi master in the OG trilogy.

I have another, slightly different theory. Jar Jar was force sensitive, yes. But, all of his SUPER shady stuff happens after Qui Gons death, which is the same moment Plagueis "died". Plagueis transferred his essence into Jar Jar and then stayed back in the shadows.

Phantom is a type of a ghost and you can't see it so basically invisible, a menace is a extremely bad person like a Sith so if you add it together its invisible menace just like how jar jar binks seemed to be a dumb character but was a master Sith lord so he was invisible towards the Jedi and menace because he is a Sith lord it all makes sense now....😮

i wish that we lived in the universe where this was the reality in this movie series. rather than a phoned in count dooku that comes out of no where. yoda appeared as a bumbling fool too at first glance then switched gears. it would have been nice to see this also happen to jar jar as well.

Imagine if instead of fighting Count Dooku, Anakin had to battle Darth Jar Jar. To seal his victory, he must choose whether to decapitate Jar Jar or not. Then, the senator turns on Jar Jar and utters the infamous line, 'He's too dangerous to be left alive, do it.' The truth is finally revealed: Palpatine was his master all along, manipulating Anakin to kill Jar Jar and set him on the path to becoming Darth Vader.

I think it's pretty much an open secret that Jar Jar was supposed to be Palpatine's master Darth Plagueis and fill Dooku's role in the latter two prequels. Can you imagine the emotional gut punch that would be for Anakin, Padme and Obi Wan that their quirky Gungan friend was actually a villain the entire time? It adds so much more to the final duel at the end of AOTC as they wouldn't be battling a sith they would be battling a former friend(which would be a great precursor for what would go down between Anakin and Obi Wan in ROTS). Also Anakin executing him in cold blood at the beginning of ROTS would be even more chilling. Padme too would benefit from this as such a betrayal by someone she trusted would make her more suspicious of even those close to her and reinforce her views that the Republic she knew is turning into something grotesque. As such her decision to scheme behind Anakin(and the Jedi's) back with the other senators to begin forming the Rebel Alliance in ROTS is given additional context. It would also be great development for Palpatine as we would actually see him betraying his master and usurping the title of Sith Lord from him in real time. His "Rise" would coincide with Anakin's "Fall". Perfection.

Found Jar Jar super annoying back in the day, but being older and if not wiser at least more chill, I found him only a minor distraction when rewatching it recently. Although he is way more fun when looking through the Darth Jar Jar lens. Would’ve loved to see the ”true prequel” trilogy with Darth Jar Jar unmasked as the true mastermind.

The fact that jar jar would be a sith above palpatine wouldn’t really make sense as apparently two there are, no more no less also what happened to jar jar after episode 3. I feel like many people would hate this and many people would feel the opposite but we need a jar jar spin-off show

Yes, a lot was abandoned. Syfo-Dyas was clearly meant to be an important setup, but that was jettisoned.
