When the first prequel came out (episode 1) George Lucas took notice of the fan backlash and changed Jar-Jar Binks from a sith lord to ... the Jar-Jar we have. George lucas even said that the prequels would rhyme with the original trilogy. Who would be a counter to "Crazy hermit" Yoda? Crazy exile Jar-Jar. I know of JAr-Jar's ending, and I found it to be extremely sad.

Sith have been known to sit in plain sight and not be known to be Sith even by trained and supposedly sensitive Jedi (the entire Jedi Council for example). It wasn't until, timeline-wise, episodes 4-6 that Sith operated openly and were easy to spot (and, now, to *some* degree in Andor). I'm not saying there lacks evidence in either direction for Jar-Jar. But to dismiss it as you did tells me that it is more personal than logical. Never base your arguments on personal bias. (I don't really care whether he is or is not - it's an interesting thought experiment but matters nothing in the long run.)

I heard one theory that the Darth Jarjar theory could be called canonically true or untrue depending on your “point of view”. Originally Jarjar was going to be revealed as “The Big Bad” of the whole series manipulating everyone, even Sidious, from behind the shadows, in order to achieve his ultimate goals. So what Obi Wan suggests here is canonically true, from a certain point of view. But after seeing how poorly received Jarjar was by the public he pulled the plug on the whole Darth Jarjar plan and went a different direction. So it was only canonically true in episode one, so every episode after that it wasn’t.
