Probably more so when he killed Obi-Wan and Sidious. Some doubt Vader killed Ben and that he merely became one with the Force but the Canon novel from a point of view confirms Vader did kill him and that Obi-Wan felt intense pain from the saber,he simply disappeared instantaneously upon death.

Yeah it's possible they didn't want to get too graphic. Even though that kind of graphic dismemberment is already the cannon. But I suppose it is also possible they want to leave some of them to be alive for a later story. And you find out later that they made a compelling argument for their continued existence. Certainly not all. But perhaps a few or even one.
