Rex may have heard about Anakin/Vader from Luke. Rex was part of the strike team on Endor and after the Empire lost that battle with Vader and the Emperor dying, Rex was present for the celebration and would have been in the general area when Luke cremated his father’s remains.

That Clone Wars episode could have been the end of Rex and Vaders story. Why does it need a further epilogue? Sometimes in life, especially for those who serve in the military, that is exactly how it ends. You see someone you're somewhat close to you and then one day they are gone and everything has changed and you never see that person again.

What would have been cool if Rex and Vader had shown up on Tantiss on the last episode would be during the battle they both stop and see each each from a distance. Vader recognizes Rex fighting against the empire, while Rex sees a sith that seems 'inexplicably' familiar to him. Would be interesting to see how Vader would react to seeing his former friend.

I think darth Vader is busy dealing with bigger threats. He is overkill. Not even an inquisitor is required. The bad batch can easily be wiped out by delta squad with backup
