It’s a wonderful sensation to sit in the relative comfort of your tent and soak up the solitude through landscape such as that. I hate to admit but it’s 50 years since I was on Dartmoor. Most of my walking is done in Scotland where I live, often on the beautiful Isle of Arran.

I agree, it's a wonderful experience. How I would love to visit Scotland again, maybe next year!

@@WalkingDevon well, the weather has been absolutely awful here since the end of June. Not conducive to enjoyable walking.

The Dartmoor scenery is truly enchanting, and the accompanying waterfall photo captures its beauty perfectly. Wistman Woods exude a magical, almost tropical vibe, transporting you to another world. The brilliant blue sky, a rare sight amidst this year's inclement weather, graces the scene, adding to its allure. Waking up to such breathtaking views makes any hardship fade away. Though your slip was unfortunate, I hope you're unharmed and can continue to enjoy the wonders of this remarkable place.

Thank you, your description is so beautifully poetic. I was fine after my little dip, I was half expecting it as somebody did the same just before me. Thanks for watching Chris.

Super video! Recently did a trudge north to south and wish I'd thought of Sittaford Tor as a halfway camp spot - looked great!

Thank you, glad you liked it. I can't wait to get back up again. North to south is quite the feat well done! I'm trying to work up to that. If you camp where I was on Sittaford you're just on the edge where you're permitted to camp. Other side of the wall and you possibly could get moved on. Thanks for watching.

Super video, I love Dartmoor and like you I enjoy the isolation it offers. I have heard that two bread bags will keep fresh socks dry when boots are wet. I've not tried it but I always carry the bread bags.

Thank you. I remember as a kid using bags in my boots in the snow. I wear wool socks now and when they get wet they stay warm and it's not uncomfortable just squelchy. There are alternatives such as waterproof socks or even wear wellies (I put gel insoles in mine) but it's still mild at the moment so I don't mind wet/damp feet. In fact I think I'm starting to prefer to just embrace wet feet rather than avoid them! Thanks for watching!

Dartmoor is a lot smaller than those places but all the same there is plenty to discover. Such a great place to hike!
