Tom Davies has two problem foxes. One of them is hitting a farmer’s guinea-fowl. Both of them are hanging around lambing fields. He zeroes his new Pulsar Krypton thermal scope on a special thermal target and he is good to go and take them on.

Why shoot foxes?
The British red fox is widespread across the whole of mainland Britain and Ireland. The best estimate of the current British fox population is 240,000 adults in spring, to which a production of 425,000 cubs is added annually. The fox has no natural predator and for the population to remain stable, 425,000 foxes must therefore die each year.
Fox numbers need to be managed and controlled to prevent the predation of lambs, piglets reared outdoors, free range and domestic poultry. Foxes can also have a significant impact on vulnerable species of ground nesting birds such as black grouse, partridge, lapwing and curlew (Bealey, Green, Robson, Taylor & Winspear, 1999).
In order to protect such species while they are breeding, conservators and gamekeepers aim to control fox numbers, particularly from late winter to early summer. Foxes are also controlled around pheasant and partridge rearing and release pens in late summer and autumn. Overall, the direct cost to UK agriculture from fox predation has been estimated at £12 million annually (UK Government figures)

Great work Tom, you know what is needed, and English lessons aren’t necessary, when farmers need foxes dealt with there aren’t many who will do the long hours with a new baby in the home!

they look alright but me personally I'm not a big fan of them. I use a pulsar thermion 2 xp50 with warne qd mounts took them of after zero put them back on and they hold zero never had a issue. I've also put them on other rifles also hope that's a idea for you guys who cant decide what path to take. nice shooting by the way tom keep the numbers down 👍

I'm not doubting that the front add-on does shift the zero, I just wonder how? It can't be 'flexing' the scope or the mounts. Is it altering the rifles harmonics, or is it somehow creating some sort of shifted image; after all, you are looking through the scope at a screen, not at the real world. It's a bit of an issue as far as I'm concerned as the big selling point with these add-ons is that you don't need to muck about swapping scopes and re zeroing. What happens if you take it off and put it back on again? Does it need to be zeroed 'every' outing? I was looking at one of these but think I'll be holding off until I know more.

Hi M.K Chase, The majority of the time owners can attach the Krypton to any day scope and it will work out of the box with no setting up required apart from the basics such as display Contrast/ Brightness, as well as the identification modes (forest/rock/identification). Unfortunately, there is no hard & fast rule as to when the display calibration will be needed. We have found the large majority of users don’t need to perform this at all, even when using multiple rifles/ day scopes. Ultimately, with so many variations of scope on the market, there are a lot of potential discrepancies that can occur when trying to align two optical devices. This is why Pulsar builds in the potential for calibration in the instances where the Optical axis of a day scope doesn’t match the factory collimation of the Krypton. What display calibration does is effectively move the Screen vertically and horizontally within the device to calibrate the device and day scope to suit each other. Once the display calibration has been successfully achieved, the unit can then be removed and refitted over and over again with no other effect, however, we do suggest that users take note of the X & Y Axis should they then decide to mount this onto another calibre rifle as there is potential this setup may need be done again. Again, this would depend on the individual compatibility of the device and the owners' setup. If you are a UK resident, then please feel free to give Thomas Jacks a call on 01789 264100 and we can try and explain this in more depth if required. Many thanks
