I think the trick to the others that seem to use drones is not to use them when others are around (who may also have cameras and maybe know who you are) to report your use. I do love drone footage but certainly not at the expense of hefty fines. looking forward to the camp.

I know. The trouble is that being a government protected landscape it could only take someone to point out video out and it can be used as evidence. Oh well, I'll get it out in other areas. Will look good along the coast.

You filmed this all wrong! LOL. Paula and Ade use a drone on Darmoor a lot I think and I know others that do. Would you really get a £1000 fine!? I've done quite a bit from Harford, not a bad little area but I do find walking along that old railway track a bit bleak. Thanks for sharing chaps
@SummitOrNothing

Cheers Nick. Yea I seen loads of drone footage, maybe would get away with it, but I can't afford to risk it. Someone pointed out that Dartmoor is a completely Drone Free zone and if we got grassed the evidence is there, I guess! Still, great area, and less to carry, heh. We will get the drone out in other places for sure. Cheers for watching, Nick!

@@SummitOrNothing There are certain parts of the Jurassic Coast that says no drone flying. No worries. Cheers 👍

The no fly rule was the reason I sold my drone. I am totally against fires on the moor, another of the rules and would have felt a massive hypocrite flying a drone whilst having a go at others breaking the rules. I believe the bylaws were updated a while back to include drones after an incident with live stock and people getting wound up by them buzzing past in more popular areas.There was also an incident around Haytor where a guy was flying one whilst driving (knob). Its a shame as you can get some amazing footage with them....

Yea it's a shame that the few irresponsible ones ruin it for the rest of us. I got told off for flying it today at a reservoir where there was no one about and the bloke said its a danger to other which is why you should have a license and permission. Ten minutes later I was almost hit by a cyclist flying around the bend on a footpath and I thought well that's more dangerous than flying a drone surely. Bloody rules! Never mind, we will carry on regardless heh?

Bloody rules and regulations always spoil the fun. Anarchy on the hills!! 👊🏼👊🏻 although that does sound a hefty fine, so maybe best do as told. 😬😬👍🏻👍🏻 Atb

I know. We may have got away with it but I had someone link the 'no drone rule' from Dartmoor.gov to a video. We get picked up for camping in the wrong area so don't want to risk it. ☹️

How have you found the app after the last walk? I used relive to track a walk in the week around nuns cross and it reckoned it was only 3.9km. I plotted the route on wheresthepath and it was over 6km so quite a big difference.

My phone seems to be at fault, I think. Never had a problem with viewranger until I swapped phones. Even set back to KM it still gives a false reading, and Relive is always different again?! I only use the Relive App for the cool video anyway. Thanks for watching!
@pitkin03
@pitkin03 6 жыл бұрын
@@SummitOrNothing I found with the relive app every time I looked at the phone the app was paused. Are you using the premium version of view ranger. I know you've had issues with the OS app before but I couldn't fault it on the last few outings

@@pitkin03 I can never get os to work, whether that's my phone again, I don't know. And relive does that for me too, on the free version . It doesn't seem to record constantly, I wouldn't use it as a GPS that's for sure.

@@SummitOrNothing it's strange as I couldn't fault the OS map the last few times I've used it has been really good. I have a Garmin GPS as well for when accuracy is really important. I just like the apps for easy upload of the walks but as they aren't all that accurate I may look into uploading the GPS route Instead

I'm sorry I haven't done a good job pointing out your misteaks (did you see what I did there.) Where should I start. .. you haven't gotten lost (on camera ) lately. Sometimes Nate straps on his mattress vertically and off center, it must be symmetrical. Now I will move on to other things you do incorrectly. Loud breathing, not enough of it. You're starting to make us armchair hikers sound bad. Thinking of sounds, there is not enough wind noise. How are we to believe you are amateur hikers/ youtubers if the videos are so professional? You lads better start goofing things up, or else! I also noticed lately that when you show yourselfs walking, you look very confident and comfortable, we'll have none of that. From now on you must slouch and looked like the pack out weights you. I have more things to point out but I'm too tired and lazy, after all, I walked 15 meters out to the mail box today. Darn near killed me. If you need any more advice feel free to call on me, I'm what you call an expert at watching youtube videos.
