Love how 140 checked out via T20, D20, D20 was uncommon back then, and nowdays it's so common that some even go the D20, D20 route on other numbers such as 137, 134 and 131 or even go D20, D20, D20 when 120 is left (as de Sousa did succesfully).

That's really hardly possible because the Bull has just the enough diameter to fit the 3 darts. I can suggest something else. 501=3×167. Someone may try clearing it out this way.

Problem with that way is, if you just hit single 20 you have 112 rest, no chance to make that out with two darts If you aim for the bull first and just hit the single you still have the chance to throw at a double with 3x 19 So if youre opponennt is not in the finish area like Bunting here.. your way ist the best but if your opponent can check out the prefered way is to start with bull

Dominik Schmidt Well, I sometimes am trying with Bull. But if I hit it, I go for 3×14 and 2×20. (I always play 82 this way.) I learned it from some good hits at the Bull I had. But if I feel on a roll, I would still go for 3×18+3×18+2×12. I anyways rarely leave 132 as a checkout. Most time I leave 108 - 3×18+18+2×18. (My favorite checkout.) I also very often leave 130, 121, 125 and 110. I sometimes play 110 Bull+Top+Double top, sometimes I aim for 3×20 though. Then I can do 50 as I please - 14+2×18 or 10+2×20 - or of I hit a single 20 - 3×18+2×18 or Bull+Double top. Yeah, I really love the 18s. It's because my hand feels more secure there. I have only 2 bones in my right index finger, instead of 3 and my thumb is too short. This makes my grip at the dart rather strange.

ChowNL Well, now I can hit two Bulls, but still don't like the double 16 unless I can leave a marker. This means I play it from: 32, 48, 64, 102 and 105. But when under pressure, I'd play 3×14+Tops if the first dart is Bull. If it was 136, I may try Bull+Bull+2×18, but that's too ridiculous lol. I play 136 normally - 3×20+3×20+2×8.

spd7693 it's completely standard to go T20-T16-D12 when your opponent is not on a finish. You go the bull route to increase your chances of having a shot at a double, but that isn't needed when you're guaranteed another visit.

I'm a big believer in double-double if you have two darts at an even number between 70ish and 80. Even if they're different ones, say two darts at 76 I'll usually favour D18 D20 over D19 D19 unless I was on the bottom of the board anyway. Not so keen on using the bull between 80 and 90 because 25 leaves you in the shit 😅
