Very good introduction to dart selection for new players mate. Basically straight barrel "Eric Bristow" with a LOT of slight variation or a "John Lowe" style are good starting points. Pleased you didn't confuse people with shaft length and type never mind flight design. Both effecting balance point of the dart. Newbies should look at your library of reviews for advice.

Thanks Edwin! Yeah its hard to give just enough info without getting into all the little nooks and crannies that may confuse a beginner. I could have made it more simple by just saying buy an Eric Bristow dart lol but I also didnt want to name one dart as being best when that is not really the case, just trying to give beginners a guideline and then they can go off that :)

Fantastic guide. I started playing 18 months ago and found the greatest improvement was moving from brass to tungsten. My personal opinion is not to bother with brass at all for the cost of 80% tungsten.

Greetings from Finland! Been watching the world champs last few years and now I gave up and bought board and darts. Ended up to buy Harrows Predator 23gr darts. I want to believe that darts are good but sadly my skills are just poor.... Found your channel by mistake and have been watching lots of your videos. I like your laid back attitude. Thanks and happy darting!

Hello mate, many thanks! I love the Harrows Predators, but they work well with my throw and grip. But I also have other darts I like which are different grips and shapes. I just like many because for me darts is something I enjoy even though I am not the greatest at it, was better years ago but had various injuries which affected my game so I just play for fun. So dont worry too much about your skill level now, just enjoy playing and eventually you will start improving! Happy Darting! :)

Designa - Dart Thunder is always the dart I start people off on because of the ability to go soft tip/steel tip or a weight selection of 18-22g in soft tip and 20-30g in steel. They used to be $24 dollars US now they are $33. Designa and the Darts Corner line are for sure the 2 I point people to start.

I started just a month ago. I had the chance to try some darts out in the shop. I rather liked a 22g pencil barrel dart. The Bull' "virus". It's a 70% tungsten dart relatively cheap. Ring grip, pretty grippy actually. I will probably upgrade later to something higher grade, but for now I think concentrating on improving my throwing technique has priority over chasing some "perfect" dart.

A complete beginner has no idea what is right for them, that is why the video is just a suggestion so they can get started without worrying about what is right or wrong. The Goldilocks range is adaptable, they can eventually or straight away go longer, shorter, thicker, thinner, lighter or heavier etc. But the beginner has to start somewhere, its just a suggestion to help them start :)

@@DartsReviewChannel I’ve been throwing for years and it seems like i’am going round in circles, feel great at the board and then just lose confidence in the next session. It’s so frustrating. I was only sharing an opinion not criticising in anyway 🎯😎
@DartsReviewChannel9 ай бұрын
@@robertrice9466 Yeah I know, I am just saying its really meant for complete beginners, I dont think experienced players should be taking it as advice as such, as we know from experience its more complicated than that. Its just to help beginners along as its very confusing when starting out with all the different styles of darts. I dont particularly like long barrels over 48mm myself but I have found a few darts over the years that contradicts my preference. For example I am a big fan of the Target Sprint (no longer made) which is a thin and fairly long dart, the kind I usually hate, but they work well for me. Darts can be very easy for some and very difficult for others, I think its important sometimes just to let your body feel what is right but that can take a while to get it as we have set ideas in our head which we think we should be doing and it messes with our mindset. I often find I throw best when not even trying but then I suddenly think "Hey I am throwing well, what did I do right?" Then it all goes to pot lol I just need to learn to be non plussed about it and go with the feel. All sounds a bit Kung Fu that lol
@robertrice94669 ай бұрын
@@DartsReviewChannel I know precisely what you mean, when casually throwing everything seams to fall into place, then like you say you realise your playing well and concentrate on your throw and it all comes apart. Same when you’ve had a good session and can’t wait to get on the Oche again and your previous form doesn’t carry over, that consistency is so difficult to find. But we keep trying and going back 😂🎯

I there was a best dart, i know one that i would not use. Its more fun to pwn with worse material 😀 . What i found out after 1 year and swapping between 43 Sets of very different darts: if the model is not too freaky, its all in the head. I tried just for Fun: 1 set of 3 Different darts: 1x ADTS 6g training dart (One80). 1x 22g Target ALX and 1x Harrows Assassin (Red) with a whopping weight of 38g. In the End, the groupings were roughly the same i throw normally.

I think I mentioned you could probably start with any darts and as long as you keep using it you will get better at throwing it eventually but the point of the video was to guide beginner's in the right direction as they are always asking for such advice. @DartsReviewChannel9 ай бұрын
Another one totally missing the whole point of it! Its recommending a dart to start that is the middle of the road of every style of dart. Its the most popular style and the one that many pros still use more than any other style. Its an all rounder that can work with any grip. Once the beginner has played a bit longer then they can experiment with other shapes or as in the case of many people continue with what is the most used style ever. So what if the beginner starts with a bomber and that goes all over the place then they try a straight barrel and it goes perfect?
@tonytravers51228 ай бұрын
Darren is correct a straight barrel is the best dart to start with ….you get the jist of where your grip points are and push point etc ….if you throw from the front you would normally end up with a torpedo bomb shape or larger taper front to back ….Darren has chose perfect lengths and perfect weights to start ….the rest is up your you to change to your specifics
