I cherish this song too.We bought it 1977 when I was in Std 6, but since my brother used to play in Discos, It got stolen with other songs when he had taken it to play It was the end of it since it was out of stock in all music stores in Nairobi That is how he knew the song was a hot cake. It was the end of Bitota for our house.

This is precious memories 1978 i was 15 years old staying with my big sister Caroline Nekesa who was married to a a Soldier Athony Odhiambo signal Battalions in Nanyuki 1 Kenya Rivals they had a band The Green Rovers. This Band could duplicate this song to the point you could think it was a record player among many Congolese songs of Bands like Lipua Lipua.Kiam.Veve Lukani including English songs this guys were great. They influenced me to become a musician of which a later own became a member of Army Band Ulinzi Orchestra. I can remember several names of Green Rovers Band members 1 Muchori on the Tenor saxaphone key board and vocals. Muli on alto saxaphone and vocals. lead guitar Baba Adija . Drummer Okech. I have forgotten the Jaluo guy on rythim and a Maragoli guy on congas and vocals. Paddy half cast chotara on vocals specialist on English songs.Juma Kibuyu drummer and two whom I have forgotten. People like Ali and the left solo guitaris came later own but I tell you I have never seen a band that can duplicate songs like the Green Rovers. Many are dead may God rest there souls in eternal peace through Christ Jesus name amen 🙏

Yeah! This is the music that rejuvinates us to the cores of our juvinile memories. God gave us music to worship Him. Though the devil took it for himself for singing evil, but we see positively that God Himself gave all these talents in those who lived to give it all in that time period when they were purposed to do so. I was looking for this song and now here we are. And to my friends who I call my brothers who we grew up together whereever you are, give God Thanks for blessing us to meet in life and continued to provide life through those years of turmoil. For those of you who were in Moroto Army Barracks, Uganda and you may as well remember the short Solist, Dido/Jido [Echo Jazz Band] who could pluck the wires and making the wires of the solo guitar sing. Blessings and Thanks Bwana Darubini2

Kinzunga Ricos, founder and guitarist, was a Veve studio musician (as the double-barreled name Fuka Fuka suggests) who had played with Les Kamale and Lipua Lipua and wrote "Niki Bue" which was a hit for Lipua Lipua. Les Kamale also recorded on the Fuka Fuka label in 1975-6 so it follows ex-members would choose this name. Fuka-Fuka is a neighborhood of downtown Matadi, a city on the Congo river on the Angolan border. Tshibau Mulembu and Tshimanga Assosa (both also ex-Lipua Lipua) were the vocalists. Their earliest single I have found was recorded in Zaire in December 1976. Tshimanga Assosa had sung with Negro Succès of Bavon Marie Marie, but after Bavon's tragic death had left Kinshasa to look for work in Tanzania with a new group called Maquis du Zaire. In 1980 Assosa moved to Nairobi and joined Orchestre Makassy for the session that included his hit "Mambo Bado," released in UK on Virgin. And, inevitably, after a split, Fuka Fuka reincarnated as Super Fuka Fuka on the Audio Productions label, APL. Richard Kasongo posted a picture of the band on facebook, getting off a plane in Tanzania, and tagged Micka Jagajaga as the drummer. He quotes Jagajaga as saying he started playing drums in Kinshasa age 12 and played with Zabantu, Londa-Londa, Fuka Fuka, Le Kinzunga, Tonto Ricos, as well as alongside Mulembu, Etuma-Nangwaka, Dindo Yogo & Nseka Huit Kilos, Bisengo Madiata ("Madiata le President"), and in G.O. Malebo with Vieux Armando, etc. "In 1978 I left on an East African tour with Fuka Fuka to Dar-es-Salaam, Nairobi and Kampala. 1981 returned to Dar-es-Salaam for seven months and teamed up again with Orch Makassy to record the Mambo Bado album, which sold in Europe. After a stint in Abbey Hotel Nairobi the band went to Kampala for three months and then back to Kinshasa where Fuka Fuka broke up. In 1983 Jagajaga moved to Nairobi and joined les Mangelepa. After that he joined Vundumuna and went with them to Asia in 1987 and recorded Nakata Mikili in Japan. He toured the Middle East with Vundumuna in 1988. In 1989 toured Belgium and Holland with Simba Wanyika and recorded an album. In 1990 returned to Tokyo with Jambo Jambo band. Decided to stay in Japan, and toured Thailand. 2005 joined Le groupe Tanzanites with Abbu Omar (also ex-Simba Wanyika) and also played with l'Afrique Band Expresse." He recorded an album Mambo in Japan Courtesy:www.muzikifan.com/shika.html

Nyboma said that these three guys could not account for the money that had been raised from recordings and concerts by the treasurer who was one of the three Fuka Fuka rebel leaders. The ironny of it all is they had all been conned by Kiamwangana into believing that orchestre Lipua Lipua was theirs, so when they questioned where the revenues from all those recordings and world wide sales was, they were enlightened that Lipua Lipua is registered to its owners. That information woke them up and they each left with whichever tool that they had to form another outfit Orchestre Kamale. Here, is where they saw how much money was coming from recordings and concert sales and then they broke up again. Greed is what kills good groups in Africa. That is why they all end up in poverty worse off than the ones in the western world. Its a little better now with the advancement of tech so everyone is doing their own recordings and sponsorship, at least.
