Daru, how did you support the light body while you were connecting the wires? I’m sure you wouldn’t want it hanging from the wires only. Couldn’t see that in the video.
@DaruDhillon10 ай бұрын
Excellent question. You’re right you should never leave it hanging by the ground wire. It was resting on my shoulder.

you make it look so easy, now maybe some people will try and do these simple things themselves. Its really not hard to do but alot of people are afraid of trying.

Well done! I have seen that wire nut issue that you pointed out in my 30 year old home. The lever connectors are an amazing find, which I discovered watching your video on the new outlets with lever connectors (highly recommended guys). The links to the tools is so helpful. Otherwise, I'd be wasting time searching Amazon for Daru's tool. I should rephrase that. Hahaha, see you in the next one.

Glad you find them helpful Richard! With levers it’s important to push them in the box carefully to see that they stay closed. Lots of problems with wire nuts. I feel the same way.

We do this in electronics but I'm not sure if it's required for electrical code: Always make the ground wire the longest so if things get unscrewed accidentally, the hot and neutral wires will disconnect before the ground wire does - so the light fixture will always be grounded, never "hot". It's highly unlikely for a wall light but it's required for devices that plug into the wall it's required for US / CSA listing...

I didn't know about the grounding for electronics. It's interesting to learn and makes sense. Thanks for your explanation on that. Our wires are supposed to extend a minimum of 6" in the box.

Daru any tips/advice when searching amazon to buy electrical lighting/supplies? Regarding safety CSA, cUL, or cETL.
@DaruDhillon5 ай бұрын
@@MaxSuperTrade it’s always best to choose UL listed fixtures or CSA approved fixtures if you’re in Canada. Some electricians won’t install lights unless they meet those standards. They are often slightly more expensive but are the safest because they have been tested. I’ve only had inspectors request UL or CSA confirmation not ETL. Great question, thanks.

just found your channel ... I have a few LED lights to install, bathroom lights like this one on the video and a fan. I was just wondering if the wire conector comes with the LED light from Home Depot. I haven't open the box yet. Your videos are amazing, thanks for sharing.

Glad you found it helpful. The connectors I purchased separately online from my link in description. You can also pick them up locally at your hardware stores too.
It's good practice when doing electrical work to wear eye goggles, not only to protect your beautiful eyes, but also since you are in a position of setting an example, for all your viewers to protect their eyes too.
