Nice playthrough! Just discovered your channel - I will keep following you ;-) Just a note: not sure, but I think the setup was wrong for the special actions - in 2 players you are supposed to have only 2 locked tiles, not 4. In any case...good game!

I was referring to the Special Actions tiles and I thought in 2p you had to put just 4 of them instead of 6, but actually this is the special set-up for the solo mode, so you made it right. My bad! Good job 😊

Thank you for the video - it was a very interesting gameplay! The Polish edition is approaching rapidly, and there will also be the Fireland expansion. I just can't remember if it's included in the collector's edition, but I hope it is. Everything looks beautiful, and that sound of clinking coins... 😀 However, I'm still hesitant - I'm especially waiting for the Polish price of the game. But above all, I will mostly play with two players or solo - so is it worth investing in it then?

We are pretty sure that Fireland expansion comes with the Collector's edition. The two mini expansions (Falmouth port and Darwin Worker) do not - they come into separate boxes. The game plays so well at 2p (and 3p), smoothly and satisfying. The designers took care of scalability by introducing different payment fees when placing workers at sections already occupied plus how many animals need to be explored/discovered. We haven't tried it solo, so we cannot comment on that. We both feel that it is a very strong design, and a quite new perspective on worker placement. And these combos are so so satisfying! It may be better to go for the English version (the game is basically language-independent, so basically rulebook and player aid) so that, if you decide to cull it, it would be easier to sell?

@@boardgamecourt Thank you very much for the detailed description. I'll try to look for some solo gameplay materials as well. I have a feeling that both my wife and I will enjoy the game (we both like Euro games). While Darwin's Journey does seem relatively complex with a lot of combos, we've managed well with games like Anachrony, Gaia Project, Barrage, Kanban EV, and On Mars, so I think we'll handle this one too. As for the language version, it doesn't matter to me, but my wife prefers Polish versions. It's easier for her with player aids and occasionally referring to the rulebook. And I'll let you in on a secret: I've never actually sold any of my games... :) I just can't do it. Even if I rarely play a particular title, I simply like having it. I guess I'm that kind of player - a collector 😀

We have the collector's edition, and this was one of the many mini expansions.

Hello, thanks for the video. Just wanted to check if you can deliver one specimen only once? Because I can see from the video that this was done multiple times for the same specimen. Thanks.

Usually, each specimen can be delivered only once. However, in this particular game, one of the special actions (drawn at random at the beginning of the game) allows us to "redeliver". This action was unlocked by yellow (Elena) and later on was used by both of us. Hope this makes sense.

We would agree that this is a quite powerful action, and players tend to rush to it if it is available. Luckily, as a worker placement game, this action is available to everyone. If anything, it makes the turn order even more important 😁

At kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX3Lo6RthNF-aKs you replay the delivery action a third time (!) but neglect to pay the 3 coins to place your worker, since there's already a worker on that diary. Instead of +5 coins you should have netted just +2 coins.
