This song has become so beloved in Australia, that every year at the Melbourne Cup, Daryl is invited to sing this song as a prelude to the Cup. As for that deserted beach, we are not lacking those in Australia.

Daryl was originally in a band called Sherbet. When they split he jokingly decided to have a half hearted try at going Solo. It actually stunned him that everyone readily listened and loved him as a solo artist. He has kept at it since and is well loved by all aussies. Australia is surrounded by hundreds of beautiful untouched beaches. With such a low population you will find many that people do not frequent.

Australia is the perfect place to find lots of coastline without people. There is anything from 12,000 (official count) but debatable to 15,000 beaches and 37,282 miles of coastline. Most people overseas only know a few inner city Sydney beaches like Bondi, Manly, Dee-Why. And they know the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast with the skyscrapers in Queensland. But yeah, heaps of beaches without anyone. Darryl was lead singer of the 1970s group SHERBET. Actually 1970-1984.

Fun Australian fact - as far as beaches/coastline - if you visited a new beach each day in Australia it would take close to 30 years - that will give you an idea of the amount of beaches - we don't share a border with any other country - We are a continent, country, island
@Reefsider-fq4sk4 ай бұрын
Mike there's nearly 12,000 listed beaches, (more not counted). They say if you visited 1 every week it would take 226 years to see them. So it's easy to find a secluded beach in Oz.

Hi good sir Australia is home to 11,761 recorded beaches, spread over an ever-changing 50,000+ kilometres of coastline. That's so many beaches that it would take you roughly 226 years to see them all if you visited one per week. Yesterday in Penrith Australia my home town it was 30 degrees Celsius that's 86 Fahrenheit in your language and its nearing the end of winter looks like we are heading for a Texas summer you have a safe and good day remember a police office main task is to return home safe to your love ones. Met Daryl when he came into work one day. This song is an original by one of my favourite artists (American) Rickie Lee Jones, but has become more well known by Daryl's version. Sherbert, with Daryl, was part of the soundtrack of my early years.

This song is heard at weddings, baptisms, birthday parties, anniversaries, and all sorts of other events. The song went 10x Platinum. That beach is about 200km north of Sydney. It is called Sandbar beach, just south of Forster. They shot the video in 14 hours starting at 4:30am, and finishing after 6 that evening. Daryl had a gig in Sydney that night, so they wrapped the filming then the helicopter flew him directly to Sydney for his gig. Forster is an area with miles of wonderful beaches, which is why there was no one else there that day. Sandbar is out-of-the-way, and there are easier-to-get-to beaches. It was a hot day in the middle of summer, and Daryl said he arrived at his gig sunburned and suffering from heat exhaution, but the show went on.

G'day Mike. Always loved this song about the protectiveness of a father for his child. Mike, you seem to have cracked the reaction code. There's no pretence, you're honest without exaggerated reactions, and I am constantly surprised and moved by the direction your thoughts take you, the way you tie your reflections to your experiences. And yet you never make it about yourself, it's always about the music. You seem to have gathered a wide range of subscribers with a wide variety of preferences - I wish it wasn't just us antipodeans that appreciate you.
