Carol: "You don’t know me." Daryl: "Yup, you keep telling yourself that." We really loved the pairing of Carol and Daryl. Obviously Carol is still struggling with all of the big questions (why am I still here? Why does anyone bother going on? How do you survive such traumatic events? etc...) But the fact that her and Daryl still managed to save Noah somehow, shows how much surviving still takes over giving up. This episode has Carol n Daryl showing once again the true meaning of unconditional friendship. With Daryl mercy killing the mother n child at the abuse center while Carol was sleeping so she didn't have to deal with it. Both being victims of abuse, their bond keeps getting stronger. I love Trin's emotions for this episode, it completely matches mine. 🥺 We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Carol or Daryl. 💕

This made me wish for my own Daryl. I was in an abusive marriage then a domestically violent relationship. Carols turn around was inspiring to me. I understand her need for isolation. Having said that, her trusting Daryls vibe. He is good energy in a efficient killer. She is “safe” with him. But seeing him also showing matter of fact empathy. Considering he was never really loved. He was needed before, but not loved. Carol was his little step to people. She was safe for him. They can love each other. They are true family. Each others strength.

I think Daryl has been watchful and observant of Carol since the moment he witnessed her pickaxe Ed back at their first camp. He recognized the pain and relief she felt in performing that task. He may have wished for the same opportunity for vengeance against his father when he was younger. He's been drawn to Carol since then and he will do anything to ease her pain - whether it's a Cherokee rose or burning the bodies in the shelter. He's tuned in to her feelings without her even muttering a word. Like knows like. He knew she was thinking about running back at the church because he's felt that way too. They are my favorite relationship in this show.

I really love the “that’s why I left, I just…had to be somewhere else,” “Well you ain’t somewhere else, you’re right here. It’s a really simple literal line, but it’s really cool to unpack. The other meaning is right there in his turn to face her, in his gruff, almost angry tone. Daryl’s telling her that he’s angry at her for leaving (albeit involuntarily). He just got out of thinking he’d lost all his family for good, and now his nerves are jumping with wondering whether he’ll see Beth any minute. And missing Carol hurt. Remember, he’s “just tired of losing people…Nope, no way. Not her. We ain’t losing nobody else.” He needs Carol’s emotional support- and that’s something he’s getting better at asking for. So he’s asking. That sentence is ‘I need you here, so be here.’

I love it!😂 and yeah the fact Daryl is not in the comics still blows my fuckin mind as well.. the fact he instantly became the most popular character as well. I think there's always something about badass people that are kind of distant but you see there's much much more to them, having a big heart that instantly makes you love them. Kinda same for (If you've seen it) The Mandalorian. It's the same type of character and it just works so so well If you want people to sympathize with a character.

I love the Fire symbolism in this episode. Fire is something that can very easily consume. Which also ties with the name of the episode. Carol lights a candle, Daryl burns papers, Daryl lights his cigarrtte, Carol sees Flames/smokes from fires at the prison, terminus, of the house Daryl/Beth burned (when she and tyresse were burying the girls), when she burned Karen and David, etc. Just a fantastic episode!

Awesome reaction, as usual! Daryl and Carol are my favorite characters, so it's no surprise that a bottle episode with them is also one of my faves. 😂 I think your interpretations/speculations are every bit as valid, but in case you're interested in the "official" answers: According to post-episode interviews, Daryl took the book for himself because he's aware he has issues, due to the childhood abuse, and wanted to work on them. Also, the episode writers said Daryl was furious that Noah essentially threw a walker at Carol, so he really was ready to let him die. But Carol didn't want Daryl to become the kind of person who could just turn his back and let that happen. She was pleading with him to save Noah more for his own sake, than Noah's. Some fun behind-the-scenes stories: • When Daryl and Carol leave the women's shelter the next morning and are moving through the streets, we get a quick glimpse in the background of the tank that Rick crawled into in the very first episode. Pretty cool continuity! • Fans who watched filming reported that the scene where the van went off the bridge didn't quite go as planned. They had multiple white vans to use , but every time they pushed one off, it landed upside down. They finally had to use a crane to swing it out and drop it so it would land upright. LOL • In the scene where Daryl is fighting to get to Carol after she was hit by the car, Norman Reedus said he kept breaking free from the actor who plays Noah. So he told him to go all out and use his full strength to hold him back. He did, and they both wound up falling flat on their backs on that hard marble floor. Yikes. 🤣

I'm sure someone may have mentioned, but if ya not, when you mentioned 'Daryl' not being in the comics.... ' Melissa McBride ('Carol') was actually a casting director, whom she had worked with producer Frank Darabont (from 'TWD') casting other shows and he suggested her for the role.... And as a side note, in the episode 'Killer Within' the character of 'Carol' was suppose to have been the one that died.... but they changed the script to have 'T-Dog' die and save 'Carol'

One interesting thing i dont mind spoiling is the dynamic between Daryl and Carol as Daryl doesn't exist in the comics and Carol isn't the same character. Through the loss of Sophia, Daryl became more emotional while Carol became more hardened. After the loss of the Prison, they are both pretty scarred by the losses around them. And not just in the Apocalypse but even before hand as both of them had already been surviving the entire time. They are both survivors of abuse who both took different means of coping with their trauma. Daryl became more closed off and aggressive, fighting first and asking questions later. Carol became more stealthy, having to do things quietly and always being on guard. These traits were the reasons they were in their own personal Hells even before the world ended, but these same traits are why they've both have Thrived in this new world. And in this episode we got to see how they are both constantly pulling each other back in from going too far gone. They are Soul Mates and not in a romantic sense. Their Souls are Twin Flames. They are each others Person. It's so interesting because this dynamic DOES NOT EXIST in the comics at all. But to me it's always been one of, if not the most interesting dynamic in the entire TWD franchise. Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus have INSANE acting chemistry. They're both brilliantly talented. And their characters are and always will be my favorite part of the show. No Two characters have come as far as Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier. They are the best developed characters outside of Rick Grimes himself

Another great episode!!! I love these episodes when we get to learn more about these characters. To a question you asked. Daryl took the book for himself and for Carol. Without spoiling anything for future episodes, Beth opened the door to a better headspace for Daryl in the moonshine shack, and sent him on a path to recovery. By taking the book, it shows for the first time, Daryl taking steps towards his own recovery, as well as hoping to open the same door for Carol. The question is, will she choose to walk through it, or continue to run away from her bad choices.

Idk if somebody already said this but in the comics i think most of the "Darryl stuff" it's done by Tyresse (and T-Dog, if I remember correctly), so there's little nods here and there about that in the show but not quite like the comics. Norman Reedus it's just magic in everything he does (says someone who watches things just cause it has his name on it), & the fact that production team was like "yeah let's make a whole badass character just to keep him" speaks tons about it.
@walkingdeadfanst47632 жыл бұрын

The thing about Daryl picking up that book, which nobody seems to discuss is, he picked it up to learn more about Carol, to support her, but in doing so, he learns about himself. It's like studying psychology, you go in with the mindset that you want to help others, and that never changes, but in learning about others, you learn about yourself. It helps him see inside himself much more. That's my fairytale opinion, fairytale as it is. Oh and love from Ireland, keep posting, it feels like I'm reliving these episodes with a mate or something.

Hello 👋 Another awesome video, 👍👍 If someone has not already said it, that van being extremely front end heavy would have landed on its nose and crunched up like an accordion then it most likely would have tipped forward because of the momentum and then landed on its roof (there is a small chance it would have went backwards to land on the tires), their legs would have been crushed if they were even still alive, 😏 So glad Noah found our group, 👍👍 My biggest ‘what the h***’ moment was why Carol being Carol would have so carelessly ran out into the road knowing the people Noah said that would have heard the gunshot could be close, even if they had not been, she should have slowly crept out all the while being cautious of Walkers since they are in such a large city with a whole lot of them, that one stumps me every time I see this episode, it might have been different if they planned it and since they did not know how close the other people were she did not do a spur of the moment kind of thing, 😏 See you on the next one, 👍👍 Have a safe and wonderful weekend, 👋😀

Similar, being the same military but not the same tank. Its actually a shot from cold open of 201 when Rick is on the radio to Morgan. Not the same markings on the tank; this and 201 have “PD” on turret where 101 tank has another V. The barrel is much more elevated here and it has more guts on skirts than the 101 tank and its missing the machine gun nest. Also different location by looking at the building to the left of tank; red brick with black glass in tall arches here but 101 is all white stone with white arch windows and trees along the sidewalk.

I didn't catch the first time I watched TWD that Carol probably did run out in front of that car on purpose. Good observation you guys!

I think Daryl took the book for over all knowledge. To help his friend. and to help himself.

The van wouldn't be able to do a flip because of the weight of the engine. Still a fun episode though.

Lol yes the van flip was absolutely ridiculous, but aside from that it was a really good episode.

Yeah, I love The Adventures of Muffin & Pookie.

There was outrage because the van flipped over the way it did because if you look at the shot before hand it technically didn't make any logical sense lmao.

Yea Walking Dead isn’t without it’s little plot holes throughout lol. But we still love it

It kinda reminds me of a part in S11 when Hornsby shoots at a walker that’s walking TOWARDS him, and they show the walkers face when it gets shot, and then it falls and somehow Lance shot it from behind as if it was walking away from him.
