When it comes to beautiful voices, it's very hard to beat Daryl Hall and George Michael. They both sing like angels and from the heart. Their voices go deep into your soul and I get chills when I hear either of them sing. This song is a perfect example!

I agree...I was a teen in the early 80’s. And grew up through the 70’s and 80’s. And, never left it behind me. About 80% of all my playlists are from that era. HALL & Oates have DEFINITELY been a huge part of my musical history. They had great writing, great hooks and of course that silky smooth Blue Eyed Soul voice of Daryl. Back in HS I would put in their “Rock n soul part 1” and never had to pass on any song and just let it run. ALL were good songs. Only a few LP’s our CDs I could do that to back then.... George Michaels, Michael Jackson’s (Thriller), Prince (Purple Rain), Huey Lewis (Sports and Fore), Whitney Houston’s debut.... among them. Miss those days. ❤️

I hate to say this, but you just made me feel a WHOLE LOT BETTER ! I heard this for the "first" time in Daryl's House... and noticing the comments I came to look up the original and I was sitting here thinking " How the absolute hell did I "miss" this song back then? ( I graduated in 85 and was definitely listening to everything on Pop and Rock radio ) and for the life of me I couldn't remember this song and was actually wondering what sort of amnesia I had, because this would have ( in my opinion ) been a top 5 .... Now I feel a TAD bit better knowing it never reached more airplay ( which is a crime itself ) .

Looking back at all the artist I've been listening to the last three decades Daryl Hall stands out as the voice of reason. His voice echoes my youth and my mid ages, in good times as well as bad. He's always been the go to guy when I've been lost in life or felt discomfort with the madness of it all. Love his authenticity and feel for music. For what it's worth: Thanks man!
@susanstraka64513 жыл бұрын
I agree. I'm a few years younger than he is, but I think he's pretty much the voice of reason on a lot of things. A regular guy. I still cry to a couple of songs after 40 years, though.

I found this by chance a few years ago. I'm in my 40s, but love all of Hall & Oates, and Daryl Hall on his own. This song hit me when my son's father died. It's been very hard and heartbreaking 💔 However, when I heard this, it was exactly what I felt, and thought. I'm learning to live without him even though it's been several years now. Almost 13 years. This song brings me back to him.🎶 I love you always, Joey. 🌹💗🌴

Only you could ever know How hard it was for me to let you go Hard to face all those nights And suffer through all the fools advice Seems to me it`s not so bad to try for the kind of love that we had Oh I need that romance One that grows strong When it`s got no chance Now you`re gone away And I`m left to carry on Ain`t nobody else gonna bear up to comparison And if I can`t have the real thing Then I`ve got to find someone Just like you What you got it`s what you need There`s pain in that but it`s plain enough to see I know I was satisfied But nobody else came out of my side I hope someone will come today Somebody like you Someone to take me all the way Somebody like you Someone to take your place Somebody like you Someone to fill this empty space

First time for me to hear this one by Daryl Hall. Great song, but sounds underrated. Never did hear this one on the local FM stations as a teenager back then. Didn't realize he already had a solo career in those days.
