I met Dave Wilson in the early 90's and thus began my ownership of W/A .. Watt/Puppy 6's to begin to todays Sasha DAW's ... Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours

Brilliant interview! Can understand why Wilson Audio is successful. Excellent leadership with a unified vision. Making sure you have passionate employees who are valued every day they come to work. If I were to purchase a pair of WA speakers I would know I’m getting something special from beginning to end.

The talk about the capacitors reminds me of me and Dave in his basement winding inductors for the WAMM using his electric drill. Things are just a tad more sophisticated now.

He is not letting much slip. As expected he keeps close to the script, the language of brochures. I understand it, I get it, but it also limits what I get out of it (I speak as a speaker designer).

He's very attentive and probably controls the content of those brochures. It strikes me as a smart marketing move to never admit to the fact that there are no real mysteries to loudspeaker design (all experience and hard work, that is, on a high level of excellence).

@@LeonFleisherFan - I understand fully, but I don't agree with about loudspeaker design. The usual 2-Way LR4 speakers that are deemed well-designed, even well engineered, but they sound rather uninspiring. _Ho-hum_ in fact. I have some ideas about that and they are being tested in a very scientific way. Designing speakers that puts 'distance' between the amplifier and speaker actually leads to the sound coming out of the box. 1st order filters actually sound better (and they have real challenges there too) because of what happens on the electrical side rather than the acoustic side. But there is a slow movement towards better understanding the amplifier (voltage source) and loudspeaker interface (linear motors only respond to current and not voltage), and some active speakers even use 'current-drive' on the midrange - and the result is a more natural open sound. It no longer seems confined to the box, more inner life, detail and so on. It's a big subject.

@@LeonFleisherFan - Hi Leon, I am in fact investigating one of the 'secrets' used in Wilson loudspeakers. It is a trick that has been used by others, some famous named involved, but they are quiet about it. I have a friend who used to repair Wilson speakers and I asked about a certain feature in the Crossover and he confirmed it. I can hint that it is about current delivery from the amplifier and where the current goes.

Great marketing, extremely overpriced, they sell a paint job, scan speak off the shelf drivers, impressive in short demos, bloated mid bass, veiled midrange, good for jazz, lousy for vocals. I have owned a pair and auditioned almost everything they make. Daryl needs a hearing aid. This who,e thing is a scam with cleaver marketing. Are sure you listen carefully before you buy these overpriced trash cans
