the thing about this kid I noticed immediately that made him different from any other US player on the national team, he was never afraid to go after the ball and get into a challenge with opposing sides, he's got that unafraid attacking mentality that is so different from the defense and timid mindset of so many other US players - it didn't matter who they were playing, he was just fearless and kept running at them - this kid is going to take the US to places if he keeps playing like this

I couldn't agree more. Also he is a great teammate, as a young player he isn't going out to just help himself, he's trying to help his team win on offense and defense. He goes hard on every play and has this confidence within himself on the pitch. Confident on the inside, but not in a stand-offish or selfish kind of way, rather in a belief in himself. I think he will be very special. When you watch him play a full 90 minute game, you appreciate his play much more because of the little touches, pace and tenacity on the field.

This, this, and this. Also would add that Dortmund, of all professional teams out there, grabbed this guy because that mentality is why the yellow wall exists :) He'll grow wicked fast with this team. Jerry Oviedo Mexico is disrespectful and their players are cheaters, in the gold cup, and when they faced the USA last night they cried after every foul and tripped pulisic when he could've scored the winner. And in the closing moments, Mexican players stupid in front of guZan when he tried to take a freekick, and its only the qualifier, as long as we qualify it doesn't matter, plus, there is a rematch in June.And if you are Mexican, you definitely represent your fans, because I said nothing about who won. classless, classic, mexico.

Historically that's true, but in the last few years they've been more and more competitive with BM. They've managed to hold on to Reus (who is pretty much the perfect candidate to replace Ribery) and Sokratis so maybe they're a little more focused on winning and less on getting big money for their stars these days. You definitely can't argue with their track record in scouting/developing young players though. Pulisic, Dembele, and Guerreiro all look like bona-fide stars. If Aubamayeng sticks around (apparently PSG has decided he's not worth the money) they could legitimately win the Bundesliga next year as they're significantly younger and more athletic than Bayern, though Bayern has made some big moves this offseason. If Gotze ever finds his game again Dortmund will be a force to be reckoned with not just in Germany, but in the CL as well.

@EamonBurke8 жыл бұрын
o ifediba You know what? It probably won't take you anywhere. Most people don't become professional athletes. But those who do know that achievements can only sustain you for a short time, and you have to find a reason to play other than that. Even if you got your dream, you find out that Soccer can become a job just like any other. What you can do is focus on what you love about playing the game. Maybe you find out you're suited to be a coach or a ref(I'd personally love to see more people aspiring to be great American referees). Maybe you decide a mon-fri job is best for you, and soccer on the nights and weekends with friends is what you love. It's about playing the game. We don't all become local heroes, and almost none of us will have what Pulisic has--a freakish level of God-given talent, the right parents, good timing, and sheer luck. So we do the things he did: practice hard, focus on the game, have fun, don't give up, don't get hurt. Even if you just play ball for the next 10 years through high school and college and some adult rec league, I promise that's going to enrich your life in a way thats worth pursuing. People change. You'll change. The goal is to give it your best shot and have fun. Don't turn down a challenge.

+Alex If I could keep the knowledge I have now at 40 and go back to the age of 16, I would become a senator or doctor or CEO, something like that. I think most people would. The trick for you will be not to compare yourself to a guy like Pulisic, but it will be how adept are you at taking in life's lessons & applying them to your own life. Here's a couple secrets I've learned along the way. #1 If you're ever trying to decide between should I or shouldn't I, whether that be ask out a girl or apply for a job etc, keep in mind embarrassment usually only lasts a day or two (sometimes only a few moments), while regret can stay with you for years. #2 In high school being cool is admired. When you're an adult, intelligence is admired by everyone. Even a criminal who is clever, if not respected, people will still admire their brilliance. My point being don't try to be cool. Try to learn as much as you can. After I graduated high school, over the next 22 years, I came into contact with 4 people I went to high school with. To be honest, I only even liked 1 of those people. I wasted a lot of time in high school worrying about what people who I would never spend any time with in my life thought about me. #3 Get on top of your finances. I'm not religious, so I don't promote that part of his program, but Dave Ramsey has some seriously good advice about managing your money. If you do the things he lays out & start at your age, by the time you're 30, you'll be the person in your social group who everyone looks up to. #4 Exercise & nutrition build confidence & success. Point blank you just feel better. I watched too much TV when I was younger. In my mid 20s I finally got on the ball & got into a good exercise routine (took me til my mid 30s to seriously think about nutrition), but if I had started when I was younger I would of been happier sooner. #5 This kinda ties into #2, but don't do things for other people. Do them for yourself. People will let you down, even your family & closest friends (PLAY IT COOL & never be a jerk when people let you down. Always leave people feeling happy they had an interaction with you. If you must get depart from someone do it with a great deal of kindness & be polite). I wish when I was younger I hadn't tried so hard to impress other people. If I had spent that time reading or pursuing interests I had, I would of found success earlier in life. A lot of times I would find myself bored & I would want to do something productive, but I wouldn't know what to do. Find an interest & learn whatever you can about it. Effort counts for a lot. Whatever you spend your time doing is what you're going to become good at. Without fail, I've started jobs & not been good at them at first, but whatever job I stayed with after about 4-5 years I realized "Hey. This is a lot easier now. I'm pretty damn good at this now." Life is easier when you're good at your job. Spend your time learning about the things you want to do in life. It'll pay dividends later. Final lesson: Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Ever. I compared myself to my brother for a long time. He's much more successful than I am & has been from an early age. Don't do that to yourself. You're running your own race, you're racing against yourself only. Stay in your lane & don't get caught peaking at what someone else is doing in the lane next to you. Good luck, Alex!

@tannermurphy72794 жыл бұрын
The jager bomber I know it’s 8 months later lol, but him “growing up” a United supporter doesn’t mean all that much. A lot of Americans are United or Liverpool supporters because of the vast commercialization and globalization of their brand here in the states. Also, clubs that have American ownership such as Arsenal, Aston Villa, and others can be popular too here as those owners also have stakes in NFL teams. The first time I watched football on television was a United game seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in the mid-2000’s. Always loved him and still do, but I support Arsenal.

He has a great story like me. Being a really tiny short player playing against taller and stronger players. My dad said not to worry about them and just be yourself. Playing 15 years of soccer I had gotten letters from different colleges. Until my last year of high school. Getting permanently injured on my knee and fracturing my hip, knee cause of soccer and hip cause of car wreck. I can barely walk a mile without getting tired. I'm a big USA fan. So he is my idle, wish him the best of luck in the future.
