Mine just passed at 14. 9 years our girl “Triple” , our 3rd Shelty . Getting another in Spring . Great dog , so missed , the loss is enormous. Great breed .

Yes. With Border Collies as the most intelligent, Collies and Shelties run a close second. Mine amazes me every day with what she fully understands without being taught.

Oh yes, mine learnt basic commands in 1 try. Paw, sit, down, touch all pretty instant. More complicated stuff takes time though. You have to change your words such as 'go for a walk' often too im currently using 'smork the smog' in passing conversation but yesterday his ears pricked up when i said it then he stares until i take him lol

Amiras Modellpferde A.M. Naja, im Prinzip sind sie es ja schon, aber natürlich ist das Wesen und das Aussehen trotzdem etwas anders. Und sind wir mal ehrlich.. Sie sind sowieso alle etwas ganz besonderes! ;) Ich glaube es gibt aber viele Menschen die Collies mit Shelties verwechseln.

Brain Cube Nun ja, Shelties sind sehr agil und deshalb ist es natürlich sehr schön wenn man mit ihnen Hundesport wie zum Beispiel Agility betreibt. (Man sollte es aber auch bei Shelties nicht mit dem Sport übertreiben!) Es reicht allerdings auch aus wenn du mit dem Sheltie oftmals verschiedene Denkspiele sowie Suchspiele und längere Spaziergängen machst. Tricksen ist auch sehr interessant und vielleicht kannst du ja versuchen ihm Mantrailing beizubringen.

I want one so much, just for a family pet. Can anyone tell me, if you can house train them. Cause i have a 2yr old Basset hound, i cant house train, i can her out for an hour. Then she comes in and poops...lol..its true tho, she is a sweetheart tho

@@batmandeltaforce yeah, she is tough and ive always tired a different breed, like ill rescue alot but my daughter wanted a basset hound for Christmas and i looked for a rescue and couldn't find that breed where i live so i went to a breeder and she is in perfect health i even went as far as spaying her, but everytime. She could be out outside with me an hour after she eats too, and as soon as she comes in she will poop in the kitchen, everytime. She is a sweetheart tho, i love the dog and i dont mind. I know dogs are alot of work but, i throw my hands up in the air, wish i knew what to do with her.

Prinzipiell kann das jeder Hund lernen. Bei manchen dauert es allerdings wesentlich länger - Collies wie Shelties begreifen sofort und setzen daher auch sofort um, was man ihnen beibringt, manch andere Rassen benötigen dafür viel Übung oder müssen Lektionen in kleineren Schritten beigebracht bekommen. Beim Airdale kommt dazu, dass er größer und weniger wendig ist als der Sheltie, das liegt einfach an der Anatomie. Man muss daher aufpassen, dass man keinen Sport macht, der HD und ED begünstigt (das kann wiederum der Tierarzt erklären). Kleinere Hunde können auch HD und ED kriegen (und haben mMn. öfter Patella-Luxation), aber sie sind weniger gefährdet dafür. Durch die geringere Masse fällt ihnen zB springen deutlich leichter. Versuch mach also klug. Ob und wie viel ein Hund lernt, hängt letztlich immer davon ab, wie sehr man sich mit ihm beschäftigt. :)
