Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) does not directly host databases. Instead, it acts as a powerful reporting and visualization tool that connects to various data sources. To use Looker Studio effectively, you need a database or data source to provide the raw data.
Supported Databases in Looker Studio
Looker Studio connects to many databases and services, either directly or through connectors, including:
Google BigQuery
MySQL
PostgreSQL
Google Sheets
Cloud SQL for MySQL/PostgreSQL
Amazon Redshift
Snowflake
Microsoft SQL Server
You can also use third-party connectors to integrate with databases like MongoDB, Oracle, or others.
Steps to Connect a Database
Prepare Your Database
Ensure the database is configured for remote access, and you have user credentials.
Go to Looker Studio
Visit Looker Studio.
Create a Data Source
Click on "Create" -"Data Source".
Select your database type from the list (e.g., MySQL, BigQuery).
Authenticate and Configure
Enter your database details (host, port, database name, user credentials).
