Thank you. The only reason I didn't immediately panic was because I got hit in the head by the airbag, so I was a bit dizzy/concussed. It was really scary.

Your video was the most helpful one I found in convincing me that I was capable of installing the cable needed for a rear camera myself. Thank you for spending the time to create and post it. Your ability to teach as you demonstrated was much appreciated. I was glad to see the happy ending with a healthy little boy at the end, and I hope that your family continues to do well. Your video also made me very glad to own a Honda Civic.

Thanks for this video and I'm glad your family is alive and well, that was hard to watch and listen to. Impressive how well the civic took that 60mph collision in terms of safety. I have the 2020 EX and that video confirmed getting it was a good decision. Edit: I wanted the hatchback but due to massive disruption globally NYC had none. Even my sedan i had to get from NJ with the trim i wanted.

I'm glad it was a useful video! My 2014 civic definitely took that hit like a champ, but it was still really scary. We both were just worried about our son. He was only 5 months old at the time. Fortunately, Graco makes a great car seat. I'm a believer in both of these brands now. Great products.

Certainly inspired me to look into doing the same project. Thank you for the video and the excellent quality detail.

Its worth it. When accidents happen you have it as proof. Get something that has 60fps or higher. The cam I installed can support 60 fps if I only use the front but drops to 30 fps when recording front and rear. Is the for is low it looks like playing an online game with alot of lag/spikes/delay.

Omg! Your baby is soo adorable!! And thanks for the install video. I was looking for how and where to mount the rear cam. The cam I got came with 2 little screws for the rear cam..but I didn't wanna have to drill into the car and I honestly didn't even think of using glue..so thank for that! Lol.

Great video man, I am doing the same on my 2022 sport touring (with the manual because my wife needs to learn how to drive one) and your routing back along the floor trim is absolutely perfect. Hopefully I can find a more elegant solution for attaching the rear camera but I have a feeling it might just be a big magnet, lol.

super underrated channel btw if you've already resolved this then cool, but wanted to share my fear and WARN you that if you route the cable down behind the weatherstripping of the A-pillar, you would be putting the wire in the path of the airbag deployment, which would send the wire into your passenger at high speeds. I feel like behind the weatherstripping, the wire would go between the airbag and the door, but you are definitely putting it between the airbag and the passenger at 23:30 when you cross over the airbag to get to the headliner. Civicx has a forum post showing how you can instead wire this above the airbag away from its deployment path and keep it tucked away from the airbag with 3M cable anchors that come with most dashcams. www.civicx.com/forum/threads/diy-dashcam-front-rear-install-20-ctr-w-honda-sensing-and-hardwiring.51548/ Cheers and hope your family stays safe.

Very good video, just did this on my Type R, and while I was able to fit the seatbelt section back on, with just one clip broken, I really struggle to hold the "heaven" back on. Installed my back camera, bent the cable, but its coming back down over and over again. If anyone got some idea on how to hold it up properly, I'd hardly appreciate that.
@RobsHouse
@RobsHouse 3 жыл бұрын
You mean the camera itself? I just super glued it to my headliner lol. I wedged something up there in the video as you see to hold it in place while the glue dried, otherwise it would just peel off. It’s still holding well. That rear seatbelt section is a pain for sure. I also broke a clip, but it’s good enough!

Thank you! Yeah it was very scary for sure. I was very disoriented from the curtain airbag hitting me in the side of the head, so it took me a couple of seconds to process what had happened. Had to climb out of the car and help get my son out of the back. I don’t know what the heck that other driving was doing. Clearly wasn’t paying attention (or was intoxicated).

plan to do this tomorrow, i got a blackvue 900e front and rear, I like how you super glued the camera to the roof liner, it cuts out alot of hassel trying to wire it in, also good to have it there because if the rear window smash in impact the camera will still have a view of what is going on, if its on the glass and it shattered it wont see anything. how is the superglue holding up ?
@RobsHouse

@@RobsHouse installed mine a week ago and superglued the rear camera, tbh im not that worried when i sell the car i might just leave that camera there and buy a new one, the its only a 1080 one and not dear to replace, pulling it off would prob rip the headliner so thats not worth it.

LMAO you did WAY more work than you had too, i ran my wear through the headliner and just squeezed the rear wire through the hose from where the trunk opens for a clean look. I recommend you ziptie the wiring BEHIND the airbag by the way, you do not want anything interfering with the airbag.
@RobsHouse
@RobsHouse 3 жыл бұрын
If you're worried about a copper wire interfering with airbag deployment, how did you run the wire along the headliner from back to front without putting it directly in the deployment path of the curtain airbags?
@RobsHouse
@RobsHouse 3 жыл бұрын
Sidenote: I did it through the floor trim because I did it the same way on the mustang. The reason for it in that car is two fold. First, It takes me 5 minutes to remove all the trim on the S550 mustang. I did not anticipate the Honda being this much more difficult. And second, I have subwoofers in the mustang, so I had to run a power wire under the floor trim anyway haha.
@Montesmike15
@Montesmike15 3 жыл бұрын
@@RobsHouse i used zip ties to secure it with the metal pillar that’s behind the airbag, then ran that down behind the glove comparment leading underneath it and eventually to the cigarette lighter. As for the headliner it’s simple just ran it through which it tucks in very well. AND once i got towards the back i ran the cable through the hose of the trunk and within the frame of the trunk. (Took an hour to slide the stupid cable through the hose) but it is definitely a CLEAN look, i recommend fixing the wires in the airbag if you haven’t already:) I can email you my setup if you’d like, and ofcourse i cut the zip ties and pointed the excess ziptie AWAY from the airbag and towards the fram of the pillar, and i’m saying this because i originally took out all the floor panels on the bottom like you did but then i realized that when i got to the back i didn’t get the clean look i wanted in the rear, so for my rear cam, it’s thcked in very well between the plastic (where you placed your rear cam) and the rear windshield, so my rear cam hides behind that plastic making it almost not noticeable when driving.
@RobsHouse
@RobsHouse 3 жыл бұрын
@@Montesmike15 I understand what you are saying about the A pillar wire. What I was trying to point out was that tucking the wire in through the side of the head liner (running it from back to front) will put the wire in front of the curtain airbags inside of the headliner. You seemed to be worried about a copper wire interfering with your airbag's deployment path in the A pillar, but not the B or C pillars.

@@RobsHouse do you think that would affect the overall performance or functionality of the car if hard wired?
@RobsHouse
@RobsHouse Жыл бұрын
@@mielecorazon It will be a constant drain on the battery. So, if the car sits for a few days, it likely will not start. It's a tradeoff, but it's good in the sense that you have a camera in the car while it's parked in a parking lot.

Yeah I didn't do that mainly because it is a hatchback, so the rear glass is part of the hatch that goes up. I didn't want to have the wire traversing the interior and the hatch because I was afraid that it may get caught in between that gap and get pinched when the hatch closes. I didn't want to risk it getting beat up and having to do this all over again to run a new rear camera wire.
