@@iamasmurf1122 This is why driverless cars, with the next generation of control algorithms, will "get up" in our society. Once driverless cars start making it onto the road, and some crash statistics are compiled, the authorities (and the everyday people) will realise that the crashes are mainly caused by humans behind the wheel. And we'll see reports of the decrease in costs associated with accidents: first responders, police, medical, judicial, insurance, repair, sick leave, etc, etc. Then we'll see mandatory annual driving tests for people who actually want to drive their cars; and a lot of the "I've been driving for years, I'm a good driver" or "it's my *right* to have a licence" types will find themselves only being able to travel in driverless vehicles.

To be fair to the driver at 12:21, the signage at that intersection is not adequate. Usually there will be either a merge sign or a sign saying that it's an added lane. Doesn't look like there is one in this case, so if they're unfamiliar with the area, they're going to be paying more attention to making sure they don't merge into traffic rather than looking ahead to see that they can just pull into their own lane.
@roseduste803 жыл бұрын
Cam driver made me so angry. The driver in front is obviously not familiar with the road and doesn't know that lane is there. I'd rather have someone take their time and make a safe decision than pull out and be killed in front of me. Blaring your horn at someone might make them panic and do just that. If someone honked me in that situation I would have a anxiety attack and most likely have to leave my vehicle until I calmed the f down.
@mattyb.56282 жыл бұрын
I disagree. There is no 'Give Way' sign, meaning you don't need to give way to navigate that intersection. Also, the driver could've easily looked directly in front of them and seen the lane. I have a similar intersection near where I live and people simply don't look.
@Mikowmer2 жыл бұрын
@@mattyb.5628 Why would I look directly in front of me when the traffic is coming from a different direction? People not realising that it's an added lane and checking as if it's a merge is a much safer alternative to the opposite, where they just drive out heedless of any approaching traffic. We've even had footage on DCOA where that has happened. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it illegal? Probably, but the police aren't going to do anything about it specifically. Is it appropriate to heap shame on someone for trying to do the right thing? No, it is not. Have a bit of compassion.

Only 1 crash - from two different angles. Not entirely the learners fault: 1) the first DC car stopped initially in a No Stopping zone which in turn caused 2) and 5) below 2) the car behind the first DC car performed a sudden and poor lane change that alarmed the learner causing ... 3) the learner to momentarily freeze (this bit is their fault) - that resulted in ... 4) the second DC car braking urgently and stopped safely but ... 5) another car, seeing the first DC car (still not quite legally stopped), performed an even worse lane change than 2) above and collected the second DC car. (Although, it was such a bad lane change, if not the second DC car, they likely would have hit the car behind the second DC car)
