Missing it can cost you 5+ minutes. But selecting the correct lane 2 minutes before the exit saves time. Cutting the lanes like that can cost you YOUR CAR and your insurance premiums.

Particularly impressed with the driver at 5:09 who realised fairly early on the truck had nowhere to go but his lane & so backed off. But then again there was probably a bit of self preservation in it because if he didn’t he was going to be sandwiched between the truck & the guard rail.

@@EerieBetrayal Any laws in particular? I did policing for a decade then a paramedic for the next 16, so have done both advanced driver training courses. For the most part, crews are exempt from some traffic laws, but that's only while on a priority job or in the execution of duties (for example parking an ambulance in a bus stop at a traffic crash or attending to somebody at their home). Then there are powers under relevant Acts (Police Powers Act, Ambulance Act etc.) You need those Acts so that some wombat can't sue the Fire Service for vandalising their car while cutting the roof off during a rescue and extrication. Like any form of training, you'd expect the skills attained to make them better than the average joe. I know my carpenter, barista and landscaper are better than the average joe with their chosen skill. Watched that frame by frame to see where it came from, and noticed some amazing skill and luck during all that. The timeline: 11:59:48 tire first appears, set against bridge backdrop, 1/4 from right, dropping down 12:01:28 next bounce, reappears against bridge backdrop almost 1/2 from right, going higher before dropping; at this time the white pickup/trailer swerves into the far right lane to avoid the incoming; getting an INCREDIBLE assist by the little white car next to it, who swerved onto the shoulder in time to let it over without a sideswipe 12:03:08 next bounce, reappears above right side of black pickup in lane 2 12:04:28 next bounce, and black pickup has room to move right enough to avoid 12:05:48 barely misses the trailer in lane 3 who had made a little swerve to the left in time 12:06:00 last bounce before hitting the semi break in time as camera changes to rear view 12:22:30 smashes into semi's windshield right where a normal heighted driver's head would be; didn't go through, possibly because the chrome exterior took a fair share of the impact (a shame, such a beautiful rig) 12:23:20 bounces off in front of driver in lane 2, who was probably feeling relieved that it had missed him, only to see it come back and bounce across just a couple meters ahead of him! 12:24:12 last seen taking a small hop next to the median barrier if I did my physics correctly, this gives the last bounce before the cammer a height of 3.75 meters at 12 meters per stripe & gap, a length of about 24 meters (little bit of guess here, since it's true position next to the stripes is approximated) during 1 16/30 seconds, for a velocity of about 15.65 m/s or about 56 km/hr (again approximate due to uncertainty in the length) at this time, the cammer's forward velocity is 32 km/hr, giving it an 88 km/hr relative velocity to him the semi appears to have stopped just as it reached it; so impact was roughly 56 km/hr wish I knew the distances to the tire and the bridge and the bridges height to estimate how high the first bounce was, but I'm gonna guess it was near the height of bridge's top

@antoinettenovella16303 жыл бұрын
To be fair, they are present but more the exception than the rule and it can be perception based in terms of factors such as speed when it is unclear whether or not they are over the speed limit. My husband is from the UK, may give that a try for a laugh :) My husband maintains that UK drivers are far more respectful but it's been almost twenty years since he lived there so I am not sure how valid that standpoint is today.

The number of people who have their dashcams pointed up at the sky is surprising. A problem it creates is the cam adjusts for the brightness of the sky and makes the road footage much darker. I have mine pointed well below the horizon.
