that rule applies to overtaking to the left of a vehicle that's turning left, or to the right of a vehicle that's turning right (road rule 143). The truck should have taken up the left lane a bit earlier - the car probably didn't realise the truck would need two lanes to turn right until it was too late. But then he had no idea what was going on well past the point that he should have - all he had to do was back up a bit.

*ON THE NEWS* this morning they said more than 28,000 drivers were caught using mobile phones by SA's new penalty cameras... in just the past three months. One driver was issued with 41 notices amounting to a $27,000 penalty. That would explain a great deal about these clips.

Come to think of it I've met you on the road numerous times where you have put me off the road you being on the wrong side of the centre, changing lanes with no regard to what is beside you, swinging wide into oncoming traffic instead of waiting, doing 40 and then when a chance arises to pass you you then speeding up etc. No, I haven't driven a truck, well not for somewhere around 50 years when you actually had to drive. Many drivers fail to think ahead and position themselves in the right lane, often cutting off other vehicles to reach their turnoff. Then, they become angry if someone reacts poorly to their reckless maneuver. Some people seem to lack common sense or fail to use their brains when driving. Two recent incidents in New Zealand, all involving ute drivers, illustrate this point. In the first, a ute driver ignored warnings from other motorists, including the pilot drivers to stay away from two oversized trucks, narrowly avoiding being crushed between them. He was white as a ghost when he finally pulled over. In another incident, a ute driver's impatience got the better of him. 6:13 For those who are curious. I watched this happen in the town centre carpark next to me. Dude with the big car reversed super fast into parking lot and almost hit a mother and daughter who were loading their trunk and didn't even allow them time to move out. They swore at him and he got aggressive at them. They pretty much got in the car and started to leave immediately, dashcam probably didn't turn on until the car turned on. Meanwhile he got out and followed them and kicked their car.

6:57 I had my bike slide out from under me going through that roundabout when I was a novice rider, bit of rain after a long dry spell, just a little too fast. I got off lightly with just a bruised rotator cuff. Bloke in a 4x4 behind me came up to me as I was getting off the road and said if he hadn't looked at me, remembered a picture of a smashed helmet after a crash, and backed off a bit he would have run me over. Good times. Still hate that roundabout even when I'm in a car

Yeah for sure. A few weeks ago I had someone park quite close to me just as I was hopping into the car to leave, I could see it would be impossible for them to get out without hittng their door on my car, I made a remark for them to wait a couple of secs until I could pull out to make more room and they got all ragey on me like Mr boot kicker here. You pretty much can't criticise anyone now as they may be a psycho (I probably need more tact and whit rather than criticise though).

I was there when this happened dude. That guy almost ran over a mother and daughter with his car saying they were in the way without even giving them a chance to move out and he got all aggressive because they swore at him. They tried to leave right away and that dashcam probably wasn't even on until they started the car so that footage was probably all they got. The car was parked and off until they tried to leave.

The car at 6:13 is reasonably recognisable. It would not take long for the police to roll up to his door and have him up for wilful damage. That happened to be a few months ago, all caught on dashcam where he threatened to punch me. He tried to evade me but I managed to get his rego plate and I took this to the police. He is up for damages to my vehicle costing over $2,000 and he wanted me to claim through my insurance when I declined. After all this is settles I will post the video.

Nope they didn't feature much this episode, but the top place always goes to the commodore drivers (and their hybrid ute mix). Seriously over represented group, given there's a relatively small amount of them on the roads nowadays (compared to Rangers/Toyotas). I guess these drivers cant help but make bad decisions, both in choice of car and in their driving. Its a clear pattern of poor decisions.
