I was watching this and wondering how on Earth they managed to get dachshunds to stay focused for so long. Then I saw the outtakes and realized that all dachshunds are prone to running off and chasing other things, possibly in other dimensions, with lovable fury.

Just saw this type of Doxie racing for the first time. It is just awesome. Some are amazingly fast! I also hope the Doxies in it are still happy and healthy 6 years later. We have tried regular Doxie races without any success! Thanks much for sharing!

OMG, I first saw flyball competition on the Cruft's videos from this year, 2018. What a fantastic activity. I know it's 10 yrs later, but I hope this is still being done in the US & particularly for doxies. It's so short term, less chance of their independent spirit breaking loose (outtakes) in a longer agility course. Gotta love this breed!

Love it! My Frenchie plays flyball, I wish I could put together a Dream Frenchie team! We ran at Reliant in Houston and had the best time. This is our first year running - and it has been great for him. Are your doxies ball crazed - Webster can't get enough of the balls.

That one little red was an absolute speed demon. Two strides per jump and just threw itself that the ball.

@medallo41 Wrong! The back problems are genetic, and can start as young as 2 years old. My dog herniated a disc in her spine, not long after completing Agility training. You should look up IVDD Invertebratal Disc Disease

Awww, I have two mini dachshunds at home and I think Howie would do well but... he gets so nervous around other dogs and people and he is SO STUBBORN. But he is a beautiful boi, he is a long hair blue with cream points with gorgeous stormy blue eyes. And he has little fluff patches around his legs and litteraly, the biggest ears ever XD. He is so pretty and so fast, but like I said, stubborn, not the brightest bulb, and a real big doofus.

This is the sort of speed you would expect from a greyhound or a whippet, not a dachshund!

@medallo41 Sorry to be abrupt, but I wanted to emphasize that exercise alone doesn't guarantee no back problems. Best to keep doxies away from stairs, and no jumping off furniture.

Unique Pet it's their team name, it's a play on words.
@NoseyNana6 жыл бұрын
Like Bogs B said below it's a play on words. But let me clarify: Dachs=Badger Hund = Hound in German. The Dachshund is in the hound category. It's also the only dog registered by AKC to qualify in both on-ground & below-ground (earth dog trials) events. Something else to attribute to their hound qualities> Besides search & rescue, they also do blood-trail tracking, primarily deer and bears. Here's a good tale about the latter: borntotracknews.blogspot.com/2012/09/tracking-dachshund-tucker-finds-dead.html Between WWI & WWII the Dachshund was strongly associated with Germany & became an ostracized breed. In the 1950's they started coming back to the States & finally people are realizing the true talents of this marvelous breed.
