I just bought this oven and loved it for melting cheese on toast, but after 2 uses it doesn't work any more.

the element in the quarts tube burnt out you can buy some kanthal wire to wind a new one but it takes a bit of work getting it apart best thing you could have done is take it back to where you bought it and get a replacement some of these ovens just are faulty from poor manufacturing

I think you need to grease the tray and turn cookie over after 2 minutes. Let cook another 2 minutes, then let stand in the oven for another minute with the oven already off.

Couple of issues first never plug a device like this into an extension cord and the problem was your extension cord the black stuff was probably the plastic melting on your cord Even at only 550 watts I would still be careful extension towards especially big ones Okay this is not an oven it's a toaster now there are two ways to cook things to apply heat to something you can apply heat by radiation or by conduction conduction is when you heat up the inside of the oven like an oven does while radiation is when you directly transmit electromagnetic energy from 1 point to another like the heating element does via indirect and because you have two relatively large very close small space invert elements you get a lot of radiation this is why it burns the top of your cookie but also why it does a fantastic job cooking toast Toast you cook me a radiation that's why you have elements large and close ovens cook indirectly via convection and conduction this is why smaller ovens are more difficult to cook with You have two problems One this is a toaster not an oven you need to modify it to be an oven which is very easy to do you are also going to have to adjust time for temperature it's going to get a lot hotter inside this little oven since it doesn't have temperature control I believe it hits 400 or 450° inside Now the modification we make to convert this into an oven is also going to affect cook time it should kind of balance out things might take slightly longer to cook in this than in a regular oven so what's the modification Aluminum foil that's it just mold a piece aluminum foil to create like a dome that you stick into the oven to be on top of your food item without touching it so think like a garage like a tent You're going to make out of aluminum foil and you'll stick that in there on top of the tray so that solid tray will stop the radiation from the bottom and the aluminum foil will stop the radiation from the top converting this into a conduction convection oven and then things like your pizza which you just called too long and your cookie will cook better you need the aluminum foil and then at the very end you're going to want to pull the aluminum foil out for the last 30 to 90 seconds depending on what you're cooking to get you the brown crisp that you want without getting the burn
