I remember when i bought my dashpad for my 70....I was blown away by look and fitment....it looks totally amazing! Its the centerpiece of the interior for this particular model/year....imho...

Hey Rich, not sure if you're still keeping up with comments in these older videos but was watching this one as we're doing a '70 Mustang restomod on our channel and this episode of yours has me scratching my head. Ours is a Deluxe model but the door panels don't cover the entire door. The lower portion is painted to match the interior. Now I'm planning on going to install all new full door panels only because I like the full look better but curious why this would be considering it has the Deluxe interior setup. Thanks in advance and glad you still have these older videos out there.

Working on my dad's 1969 Mach 1 Fastback, any suggestions for a radio? Love a classic look with modern touches

Cobrafanatik22 It is but I just try and take it in stride.I think at this stage I look at a restoration\project car is not finished until it is finished, just part of the process of working on an old car. They always have some issue, that's why all of those car shows on cable really are b.s. You cannot whip a car out in a day or a week or a month and sell it to a new owner, those cars always need to be wrung out.

Yeah I agree with that. Those shows have to be made to look like a very short period of time. Not realistic.

Hi bud great vid. Maybe getting a 70 fastback on Sunday with a scruffy interior. I want to change the door panels from standard flat to those deluxe. Is it a straight swap and are the doors the same for deluxe or standard trim? Cheers, Steve, UK
@MustangConnection14 жыл бұрын
Steve, There is actually a bit of work to swap from a standard to deluxe door set up. There is lighting and wiring harness that will need to be added along with all of the bright work and door cups. Of course many have made the conversion but it can get pricey to do the whole lot correctly.

I apologize if you've answered this already, but what color would the lower door portion be on a deluxe white interior car?
@MustangConnection16 жыл бұрын
It should match your lower dash color, likely dark charcoal metallic( looks black). The door panel covers the entire inner part of the door.

Very nice piece, I wish the dash panel for my Jaguar as-type fit as well. I bought a foam backed vinyl cover for my OE metal panel and glued it on. It's not bad but I can see the little edges aren't as nice as the factory part was.

John, That is one lucky thing about the Mustang aftermarket being so well supported. I am very impressed with this dash piece it is darn near NOS quality. I am sure the one you made is almost as good as the original, the work you are doing is true artisan stuff, a real treat to watch.

The devil is in the detail and the details look sweet on your car Rich. I'm having trouble with my doors now the new rubber has been installed also my windows keep slideing off of the vertical post's any tips on how to solve both problems would be great man....
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shane. The only answer on the door rubber, assuming they were lined up before the new rubber, is simply let them wear in,it just takes time for them to get into the new shape. Unless you are using NOS seals the aftermarket stuff just needs time to be persuaded to close correctly. The windows came with a rubber u shaped sleeve that sits in the vertical clamp between the clamp and the post, it's probably gone or worn out. If its missing there is nothing to keep the window from sliding, take a peak and see if they are there.
