Watching this video reminds me of an elderly gentleman in town. He is a retired lawyer in his early 80s. Three years ago he bought a 1975 Olds Cutlass with about 80k miles. The car ran but spent it's life parked under a tree. The car was green with red wheels. It was ugly. The heater core went bad. He took a sawzall to the dash and cut the passenger side right out. He cut the firewall too. He wasn't about to go through the effort of removing the dashboard assembly.

Holy crapoli that’s too funny. Picturing a cranky old man yelling at his car while he destroys it, lol…

Well, we did this exact repair over the weekend. The video helped alot. It looks very intimidating but really wasn't horrible. I would mention that the AC evaperator lines must be discharged and disconnected prior to this job. The only issue we had was an air bag light. In which we disconnected the main plugs and re-seated them and the fault light cleared. Thanks a bunch for your efforts to show what was involved!!!

Haha, yeah, they can be a huge pain. But, at least the front desk tends to leave you alone when your doing one....usually. :/

found your channel a couple days ago and enjoy your videos. straight to the point car repair with good commentary along the way. the bolts behind the door remind me of the ford heavy duty trucks, they have one of those too, dropped my 10mm inside body trying to get it lol

Glad I could help, thanks for watching and just be careful of the sharp metal in the dash! Take pictures of anything that looks a bit messy during disassembly. :)

Jimmy! I did a heater core in that same body style sebring convertible one time. Finished the job and come to find out the cheap Chinese heater core my service manager sourced for it came from the factory clogged somehow so I got to do the job twice in the same week. Plus the convertible top was broken so I couldn't put it down to help make it easier. Oh boy good times 🤦‍♂️. Hey how do you like those vessel screw drivers, I freakin love mine..

OH man, that is a tuff deal James! The Vessel screwdrivers are awesome! Best I've ever owned. Wasn't expecting that. :)

We fix wiring issues on most of them. Usually where they hinge and flex a lot. But we've also seen other issues on occasion. So a local shop would need to sort it out, the dealer or if you're near us we can. Starts at 1.0 hour labor, which is usually enough for most issues. We are in Kissimmee Florida.

I am getting that done now on my 2009 and I need heater inlet molded hose they discontinued that part I am having the hardest time finding it 😢
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we have been seeing really bad parts shortages and discontinued parts also. They seem to want everyone to buy new vehicles, as if everyone can afford to do that. Hope it turns around eventually, but doesn't look good right now for a while. Might have to find a hose that is close by having a parts store match it as best can be?

How many days should it take to replace water pump and timing chain set on 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2.7 v6?i took to mine into a shop 3 weeks ago...
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 2 жыл бұрын
Wow, sorry to hear that Steve. It is usually 2 days work, but if they are waiting for parts or don’t start on the work right away it will add considerably to the completion time.

One day I would like the engineering department that designed these vehicles to do repairs, maybe they would get a little smarter
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 2 жыл бұрын
Haha, from what they tell me Robert, they don’t design them with much consideration for repairs afterwards. Only assembly. I believe it, lol.

Did you have to recover ac beforehand? You have to remove hvac housing assembly?
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 10 ай бұрын
Yes, anytime the system is opened refrigerant must be recovered first.

In my car, in the part of the engine bay, the lines work as they should, one cold and the other hot, but on the inside where it reaches the heater core are the two very hot aluminum ones. Any recommendations? thank you

If the A/C pressures are right, but it is warm in the car it might have an issue with a blend door actuator? I’d check for codes and see how hard it is to get to.
