Dodge Stratus / Chrysler Sebring Heater Problem Tip

Pretty common problem with these cars when the heater all of a sudden stops working when driving. In this video i will give you a tip to maybe get the heater working again. Enjoy!

@clubcar98 yeah i wouldnt doubt it. The AMC Renault Encore, and Alliance's back in the 80's used to have an exploding heater core problem which would splash hot coolant in your face i think it was

I have helped a few friends out with this problem I am a certified electronic tech so they brought me there cars where in my wheel chair and took the hvac control out took it in under a magnifying glass and re solderer some components and the solder joints now 5 years later all cars I did this to works great. If you take it out look at it under a magnifying glass you can re solder it.

@craig1974 Yes I checked the back of the board and says made in Mexico but has a inspector number on it saying it was checked for proper operation . I will bet they just check 1 out of a 1000 and just put the stamp on all of them . I think there solder re flow machine was running slight cool so solder will not flow correct or heavy enough. Works for a while but vibration couses the solder to crack as it was not thick enough. I worked for ASI in Louisville repairing radios in 79-82

My car's heater has a strange issue... it blows warm air out the floor vents and boiling hot air out the defroster, but when you switch it to the dash vents, the heater shuts off and it just blows cold air. I'm sure it's not supposed to be like that. But hey, at least it works at all.

Sounds like solder joints like ncrdisabled said. The Bonneville's heater core is bypassed. Blew up, steam and hot coolant on my Moms feet. We may end up replacing it, won't be fun.

Hey Craig, i don't have this kind of problem but i don't know where else to look but i have a 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT and i need to replace the cigarette lighter in it but i don't know how and i haven't checked the fuse because i don't know where it is can you help?

What do you think you are jarring when you tap it? Is it something that can be fixed by soldering or adjusting if you take it apart?

Mine was a bad wire going to the climate control module

Do you know which wire it was or how you found it?I noticed if I wiggle the wires the heat comes on and off.the whole module is new too.

Also it can be your blend door actuator, they cost like $17 free shipping on ebay. This piece moves the blend door. to check it I believe I had to remove mine to turn the blend door by hand & that will make sure of the problem. your car will need to be warmed up at the time you check it.

if your heater is not working heating some time or somtime blowing cold it is your water pump leakage problem
