He even took techniques from dance and fencing. The idea was to be adaptable in a fight. And to use what will work best for you in that fight.

The man that Bruce Lee was sparring with at the beginning became a legend in Hong Kong cinema in his own right. His name is Sammo Hung and, despite him not being particularly slender, he was incredibly well versed in martial arts and gained respect as a superb fight choreographer and director. Sammo went to the same Chinese Drama Academy as Jackie Chan (who does some stuntwork on this and is most noticeable for being the man who gets his neck snapped by Bruce Lee in the fight in the underground caverns). The Shaolin Monk is played by an actor named Roy Chiao. Lots of people know him best for playing Lao Che at the beginning of _Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom_ (1984). Angela Mao played Bruce Lee's character's sister in that flashback. She is quite possibly cinema's first critically acclaimed female martial arts movie star and gained a fan following with some of her other Hong Kong work. Any glass in this film (including the glass bottles that Bob Wall's character Oharra attacked Bruce Lee with) was actually genuine glass. This was a Hong Kong-funded production despite being under the Warner Bros. banner. Hong Kong film budgets were nowhere near as high as those of their Hollywood counterparts so they often couldn't afford the safer sugar-glass (they couldn't even afford mattresses for stuntpeople to land on; they just used cardboard boxes!).

It took me a while to realise. Yuen Biao is in this film too. He doubled Bruce for the flip-kick against Oharra (Bob Wall) and you also see him a few times during the punching rituals. He is most easily spotted at the point just before all of those prisoners come into the fray during the final mass battle - Bruce kicks him in the stomach just before those guys all pour in (at 21:45) Two of the four guards who had to "prove themselves worthy to remain among us" are also people whom fans of Hong Kong cinema might recognise: one is Chung Fat and the other is Mars. Lam Ching-Ying is also visible quite a few times in the film too (that's him sitting on the right of the screen at 10:30, near to Roper), plus another key moment is during the fight with Williams in Han's office - at one point you see a man reel backwards and crash through a window: you can see that that man is also Lam).

I really love how on the very first second you recognized that this was realistic fighting. Very different from other action movies, ninety percent reality based. Your reactions here were nice and authentic. Thankfully, Lee was actually able to sneak in a few movies starting at the very last 1.5 year of his life. Prior to that...there are zero action movies, he was simply a veteran at live combat. In live situations he had fought; Black Belts, Pro Fighters, Ex military, Champions, 3rd degree Masters, Rival Martial Artists, and opponents that outweighed him by 100 pounds. His battle experience started as a young boy who would then become the leader of the Hong Kong Gang, the Tigers8 of Junction Street, and his violence lead all through out his teens + adulthood. The few movies he DID get to make were only at the last 1.5 years of his life which had been a very brief opportunity for him to report his life experiences and give that insight into live combat. He only made 3 little movies plus One Hollywood film, a very short attempt at films but we're lucky he at least made them and snuck them right in JUST before he died to show us his insights on his personal life of hard combat. Lee is ranked by Sports Illustrated in the 50 Greatest Athletes of All Time, with near super human strength that could raise unbelievable weights that pro weight lifters could not.

An absolute masterpiece in martial arts cinema, filled with Bruce Lee’s philosophical views on fighting/martial arts, and his first full-length film featuring his own personal martial art: Jeet Kune Do, The Way of the Intercepting Fist. Few advices from an old generation: -"once upon a time in the west", by Sergio Leone, best western , one the 3 best movies ever. Cinematography, music, story building, acting (incredible caracters), even editing. A master piece. -"the wild bunch", best american western, by Sam Peckinpah, ultra violent, very modern, very stylich, the ,best shootout in cinema (with "heat") with a heavy machine gun. The first modern movie.Peckinpah is a genius, all his movies are incredible, very deep in fact, very politic too.. -all the dirty harry movie, with,Clint Eastwood at his best. - all the Stanley kubrick movies. He is simply the best director of all the time. -a funny, but very nostalgic western :"my name is nobody" . And maybe a little bit deeper than people think, with a moral My best to you Dasha

Fun facts: the heavy fighter, in the beginning, is a very young Samo Hung and one of the henchmen was a very young Jackie Chan! -the last scene almost didn't happen because all of the karate outfits were at the cleaners. -the actor who played O'hara was Bruce Lee's good friend and unofficial bodyguard because so many people were challenging Bruce to fights. Oh... and that snake almost killed Bruce when Bruce stepped on the snake.

Dasha, one of the greatest mysteries in cinemas: if Mr Han had his own army of bodyguards (his team of daughters 15:38), then where were they when all hell broke loose towards the end of the film? By the way, the iconic theme music was written by Lalo Schifrin, who wrote many theme music for movies and television, the best known is still the "Mission: Impossible" theme.

I think Dasha is showing respect by calling Bruce Mr. Lee, which is something i appreciate in young people, i love her reactions on this and many other movies she has reacted to.. Actually Jackie Chan was in a few Bruce Lee movies, Once Bruce accidentally struck him in a scene for which he profusely Apologized and even told him that he would be in all his movies from now on, but unfortunately that was never to be since Bruce passed away in 1973. I myself did Jeet Kune Do (Bruce lee 's own style) for many years before i went to war as a soldier for the South African army in the Angolan war 1986 - 1989, i was severely wounded which stopped me from continuing with my martial arts after my time as a Soldier. But i still watched all the Bruce Lee and even Chuck Norris movies back in the day. Bruce was a great Martial artist.

Its great that you love martial arts / fighting (Im a martial artist with 31 yrs experience, in multiple different arts). I recommend watching "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" (watch the english voice version). It stars Gordon Liu, whom also played in Kill Bill, as the old Kungfu Master "Pai Mei", as well as one of the Crazy88 gang members. In it, you will get to see what it was like to Train in Ancient pre-industrial China. Its fun, funny, and cool. Others great classics to watch: - Remo Williams The Adventure Begins - The Last Dragon (Cheesy 80s fun, with a FANTASIC soundtrack) - Marked for Death (Steven Seagal - Aikido) - Under Siege (Steve Seagal - Aikido) - The Legend of the Drunken Master (probably Jackie Chan's best Traditional Chinese fighting work, ever filmed) - Soldier (Kurt Russel) - A very shocking, and emotionally powerful film. Hello, FYI, Bruce Lee is a martial Arts Master. He is the reason that there were so many " Kung Fu " movies in the 70's that were shown in the U.S. Also he choreographed all the fights main fight scenes. His other big movie " Game of Death " just as good, that's where he made the complete YELLOW outfit famous, that you saw in Kill Bill, also another movie "Meltdown" Stars Jet Li . You should look up Bruce Lee, he was a phenomenal individual, with almost supernatural skills.

A 70s cult classic. This movie was responsible for a huge increase in martial arts popularity. Another great movie that is about 70s culture is "Almost Famous"(2000) which is semi-biographical story about the youngest rock music journalist ever to write for Rolling Stone Magazine. The journalist's name was Cameron Crowe and he is also this film's Director and writer.

It's a classic in its own right, it's got a very memorable cast, and the actor for Bruce Leroy is hot AF and still just as hot to this very day. RIP Vanity 6, also hot AF.

Bruce Lee's philosophy was that a fight shouldn't last more than one minute. Bruce developed the, "One Inch Punch", technic. Bruce would place his fist just one inch away from his opponent. Then he would hit them with so much force that it would take them out. Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung where close friends. You can see Bolo in, "Bloodsport", with Jean Claude Van Dam. Bruce Lee was also good friends with Chuck Norris. ✌️❤️🌹

Bruce Lee was known during his time as probably the greatest martial artist out there... even today he is considered the best by many. If you want to learn a little more about Bruce Lee himself, there is a good movie that was made about his life called "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" And if you enjoy watching good fight scenes then I recommend my all time favorite martial arts movie... called "Fist of Legend" (from 1993 if I recall correctly). It is a remake of a Bruce Lee original called "Fist of Fury" from the early 1970's!
