Dasha, when I was a kid, there was an alley behind our house. That's where us neighborhood kids would meet up and play a lot. Thing is, the alley was on a bit of a hill. Any ball that got passed us, was GONE. None of us could catch it. But we were inventive back in the 1970s.... instead of using a ball to play Dodge, we used a Frisbee. If you think that red rubber ball hurt when it smacked you between the eyes, just imagine what the edge of a Frisbee felt like in the same spot! Toughened us up, though.

Steve the Pirate actor was in a short lived sci-fi series called Firefly. It's about scavenging goods from derelict spacecrafts while taking new passengers each episode to make ends meet. The show has funny and serious moments lasting only 14 episodes with a movie at the end after fans protested to have closure.. The series was broadcast out of order and so fans didn't know what was the status of the show. Check it out as DVD are in the correct order.

I just want some simple, efficient humor. I am not a puritan who has orgasms with independent European cinema. I like a lot of movies by Adam Sandler, Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrer, Rob Schneider, Johna Hill, James Francos, the Wayans brothers etc. Not everything has to be masterpieces of the seventh art. I love that they tried to do a subversive ending... it was originally supposed to end with Globo Gym winning but the studio hated it and demanded a happy ending, hence the post credit scenes... the cash being literally labelled "Deus Ex Machina", and Peter's victory speech saying "money won is sweeter than money earned", which is the opposite of what a wholesome moral is supposed to be.

The man at the airport who's talking to Peter la Fleur ( la Fleur means the flower in french ) is Lance Armstrong, an American cyclist, road world champion in 1993. Nicknamed "the boss", he is famous for having won seven consecutive Tours de France from 1999 to 2005. And he had really a testicular cancer !

If you'd like another comedy recommendation, I suggest "Grandma's Boy". You've already done IT comedy from an office worker point of view with Office Space, Grandma's Boy is IT from a game developer/tester point of view. You'll recognize some of the actors too. The guy that fell in love with Fran in this movie plays the... antagonist you can say, in Grandma's boy.

I think part of the joke that a lot of people might miss about how Average Joe's was able to go so far in this tournament with almost no training was the fact that ALL the dodgeball teams are pretty trash. This is an extremely obscure sport where at the top level a team of 5 split 50k for winning the "big prize". Any really athletic people are playing more well known sports. It's why Kate can go from semi-pro softball to pro dodgeball and pretty much dominate as she's played an 'actual' sport semi-professionally before. At least that's my head-canon theory after seeing the movie 150 times.
