It's remarkable that Cary Elwes character, as the unwanted step dad, is actually a kind, caring, understanding guy. Usually, stepdads are portrayed as mean, but, even though the movie makes him dorky, he's a good guy.

Yeah, kind of disappointed though that Audrey didn't stay with him though. Considering how cynical the last 30 minutes of the movie were where Fletcher realizes that no matter how much "he wins", he still loses, I would've prefer the fact that he he's that there's no winning Audrey back. They could've still have Audrey and Max not moved to Boston with Jerry, choosing to live in LA, but still have Fletcher keep his promise to be in their son's life. Sort of like Mrs Doubtfire.

I think this is up there with The Mask as Jim Carrey's best physical comedy performance, which is impressive considering The Mask used CGI because of the cartoon style humor The Mask had. Jim Carrey was great in the 90s mostly. I'd like to see Dasha react to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective from 1994. One of the three movies from 94 along with The Mask and Dumb and Dumber that put Jim Carrey on the map.

The sad thing is that I understand how hard it is to have a balance between one's work life and one's personal life. Jim Carrey's character did need to put his foot down alot sooner and make the effort to spend time with his son and take him to the wrestling and stuff. Not being able to lie was definitely the best way for him to realize the truth and be able to do something about it with in a short amount of time.

Regarding why he can't ask questions: if the question is asked in a way that it would be a lie without being a question he can't do it. Very strict rule of the movie but it actually makes sense when you think about. The point is he can't ask the question in a straight manner ('did you have sex with this person?') because it hurts his case anyway.

When I watched this movie for the first time I lived in Mexico and I didn't understand the scene at the conference room. Now I know there is a type of humor in the US that is called "Roasting", where people make fun of others in even insulting ways. Watching this movie again after watching some roasting shows (My favorite one is Pamela Anderson's) makes me understand how this works, but for people from other countries where roasting is not a thing, that scene could make no sense.

16:00 That whole sequence is even funnier when you think about it: He can't lie so everything he's saying about these folks is true 😅 And FYI, the whole age issue wouldn't hold up in an actual court. Richard could easily fight that claiming she committed fraud since he clearly didn't know her real age and she admits she lied about it.

He can counter sue ... his lawyer can file for a continuance, he can probably "roll the fraud case" into the case .. .. .. but "On the merrits" the Prenupt is void. Children cannot enter into legal contracts (unless they are emancipated). This is why I don't understand Washington's "Transgender Sanctuary" claim ... ... it "cannot possibly be legal" to allow children to "Run away from home, and get transitioned" ... That's "Harboring a Runaway" at the very least. A case could be made for kidnapping (if the parent comes to claim their child and the state interferes) ... that's before you even get to the "Medical Malpractice" "Barbarism" and "Child Mutilation" charges. #TheNietzschean Perspective

"did you wish for me and your mom to get back together again?" "...no I wished for roller blades" I am 100% sure max is lying, I find it interesting how the message isnt just "lying is bad and no one should ever do it". its more about the intent and purpose behind the lie, is it for selfish reasons or to keep someones self esteem up? Although deceit can hurt others, the truth isnt always something people want to hear. But also honesty is can sometimes unexpectedly be the better option even when you think you need to lie (as shown with the boardroom "roast" meeting) And max here seems to have grown up a bit where hes now utilizing white lies himself.
